  1. Anne Bolmarcich says:

    Don’t forget Princeton NJ

  2. Peter says:

How can you find the place? My location hasn ´t been named so far. I don´t know why. I am from Slovakia, btw.

  3. Lynne says:

Darn! I’m never on when you do that (Melrose MA).

  4. I only list the places of visitors actually online when I happed to be looking.

  5. Maureen says:

    Re: the above story —

I would remind the good cardinal that the Hidden Christians — poor villagers without education, descended from folks who’d only received the slightest of Catholic catechical training before persecution began and they had to run — maintained a few responses and prayers in only slightly mangled Latin, over a period of hundreds of years, without knowledgeable teachers or even knowing what the words meant!

I would further remind the good cardinal that nobody tells the Japanese Buddhists that it’s too much for them to memorize sutras in Chinese, much less Sanskrit. Sanskrit, like Latin, is an Indo-European language, but actually has _more_ cases and tenses than Latin.

So I would humbly suggest that the good cardinal is talking through his galero as far as linguistics and historical evidence is concerned.

  6. Theodoricus says:

Darn! I’m 20 times a day on and i’m not on that list..

    Amsterdam-The Netherlands

  7. James Straight says:

    Columbus! Woo hoo!

I believe I have noticed that pop up a few times. I believe you probably have quite a few readers here, father.

  8. Statius says:

Huzzah! Halifax again! Maybe the only one here. Well… a few others perhaps.

  9. Craigmaddie says:

    Scotland never seems to appear…
    :-(

  10. Zach says:

    Yeah! Go Columbus OH!

BTW Fr. Z, where exactly are you from and what do you do?

(sorry, newbie reader here and long time blogger)

  11. Patricia Gonzalez says:

How about Hudson, Quebec? (Hello, Halifax, I’m originally from St. John’s Newfoundland).

  12. Paul MacLeod says:

Australia (much less Geelong, Victoria) doesn’t turn up often, but we’re here, Father, looking at you!

  13. Joe says:

I was wondering when I would get to be on one of those lists Father.
Whats the mention of the canaries about?
    Joe- Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

  14. Oh Happy Day! Day wherein Sioux Falls did appear! I have been waiting to see my home on your list for what seems an eternity, and not only was it on the list, but it had a link to the Canaries website!

I will be in Rome the first part of May, maybe I can bring you some Canaries paraphernalia, and in return you can teach me the secret to making good Italian espresso.

  15. Fr. Christiensen: I thank you for the offer of Canaries swag. However, you might keep it there in anticipation of my return to the Sabine Farm. When you come, do get in touch and we will find that espresso… or other things worth looking for.
