PODCAzT 22: Peter Chrysologus on your priesthood; fear and love

Yes, folks, I am tired, but back at it.  In today’s PODCAzT we hear from St. Peter Chrysologus, of the Golden Speech.

The "-logus" part is from Greek logos which means a range of things from "word"  to "speech" to the "reasoned thought".  He got his title in the 9th c.

Peter doesn’t disapppoint.  Today he talks about the priesthood of all the baptized.  I will also talk about your priesthood, especially in light of participation at Mass.

Also on the slate is a reflection on fear and love when making your confession.  All from Peter!

When I returned to the Church, and started praying the Liturgy of the Hours (the little one-volume Pauline Books version, at first) I fell in love w/ the Office of Readings. St. Peter Chrysologus was an instant favorite.

  2. Two comments, first in regards to another great podcast, and secondly in regards to these May Day demonstrations.

Another excellent Podcast Father. I envy those who have the privilege to listen to your homilies.

Now, is it true that they would have the nerve to protest at the Lateran Basilica and threaten a Bishop? I suppose the situation in Italy must be really bad then, or life in Canada has sheltered me from overt anti-Catholicism (instead I get to witness liberalism and heterodoxy flood into the Church).

Thank you for another fascinating podcast, Fr Z, and I wish you’d let us hear more of the Latin readings before fading in the English translation! You’re one of the best Latin readers it’s been my pleasure to hear, and these kinds of podcasts are a fantastic opportunity to promote the mother tongue of the Church. Thanks for what you’re doing.

On a different note, I see that this blog is just three votes behind the atheist blog over at Blogger’s Choice awards. I’ve done my bit to close the gap, and I hope those of your regular readers who haven’t already done so will wander over there and do their bit as well.

So? How was dinner with Fr. Finigan? Did you talk about the blistering letter he wrote to the ICEL?

Thank you, Father, for a wonderful podcast! What I found especially interesting was your suggestion on how to participate more fuly with Holy Mass. Is there a particular book(s) that you would recommend on how to more actively participate in prayer with Mass?

You have a genuine apostolate on your hands here!
