    Is this good?

  2. Raymundus says:

Fr. Christensen was the rector of my college seminary (before I got there). I volunteered alot at Nativity when I was at SJV (though St. Agnes became my parish family) and never had a bad experience with Fr. Christensen. He was a great confessor, if I recall correctly.

“The bishop-elect was born in Pasadena, U.S.A.”
    … which state?

  4. Does anyone know why a new bishop hasn’t been assigned to the Diocese of Birmingham, Alabama? It was over two years ago when Pope John Paul II accepted Bishop Foley’s resignation, yet a successor still hasn’t been named.

Most Rev. David E. Foley, D.D., ordained a priest May 26, 1956; appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Richmond, Virginia, May 3, 1986; ordained Bishop June 27, 1986; appointed Bishop of Birmingham in Alabama, March 22, 1994; installed Bishop of Birmingham, May 13, 1994; retired May 10, 2005; appointed Administrator, May 19, 2005.

among the other appointments, I see that a Fr. Novatus Rugumbwa received a Vatican posting – does anyone know if he’s related to the late, great Cardinal Rugumbwa?

  6. Janet says:

To Kevin, concerning Bp. Foley’s replacement: Our new bishop has been chosen and will arrive this fall, from what I’ve been told. No idea who he is, but was told that he is a good choice and that he ‘works with people’ and is accommodating. So I guess in a couple of months we’ll have our new Bishop here in Birmingham.

  7. We heard the news here early this morning out in the west metro – congratulations to Superior diocese, you are getting a wonderful pastor for your new bishop. Fr. Christensen has done many good things at Nativity of Our Lord parish these past years, when I lived in the area I went to daily Mass there frequently. They will be sorry to see him go, but thankful that he has been able to be there to oversee proper renovation of a Catholic church, including putting in a new, glorious, organ in the choir loft!

Pray for Fr. Christensen, he will need all the prayers he can get as he travels to our troubled neighboring diocese to the northeast.
