This morning I went out and could smell woodsmoke as the morning birds began their songs.

“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

Out there praying Lauds in the backyard again, eh, Father?
Fr Z,
Your at risk of becoming a contemplative!
What a wonderful time of year and time of day. To follow up on Jon’s comment, one of the psalms (Psalm 62 in the old way of counting)from Lauds in the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary seems apt:
Deus, Deus meus, ad te de luce vigilo.
Sitivit in te anima mea; quam multipliciter tibi caro mea!
(Oh God, my God, to Thee do I wake at break of day.
For Thee my soul thirsteth; for Thee my flesh longeth, O how exceedingly!)
In Christ,
Breath-takingly beautiful.
