What is at stake in the upcoming election?
Here is something to think about from LifeNews. My emphases and comments.
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — In a Thursday interview with NBC News, Barack Obama repeated the pledge he’s made throughout the campaign. Obama indicated he would only appoint judges to the Supreme Court who support unlimited abortions, [That’s the issue, folks.] in what is a clear pro-abortion litmus test for federal justices.
"Well, look, I think that you — what you can ask a judge is about their judicial philosophy," he said when asked how he would make selections if he defeats John McCain on Tuesday.
"I can tell you that how a Justice approaches their job, how they describe the path of interpreting the Constitution, I think can tell you a lot," he added.T
"And so my criteria, for example, would be — [read carefully] if a Justice tells me that they only believe the strict letter of the Constitution — that means that they possibly don’t mean — believe in — a right to privacy ["right to privacy" discovered in the Constitution by the majority in Griswold v Connecticut was the basis for the Court’s eventual Roe v Wade abortion decision.] that may not be perfectly enumerated in the Constitution but, you know, that I think is there," Obama said. [Uh huh … it’s CLEAR! It’s right there! In those penumbras formed by emanations.]
NBC News columnist Mark Impomeni understood the clear meaning of Obama’s words.
"No originalist judges need apply," Impomeni wrote in response. "The right to privacy is a code word for abortion rights. The focus of liberal jurisprudence since Roe v. Wade first conferred the right to an abortion has been the protection of that ‘right.’"
And with Roe guaranteeing virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reasons, based on the so-called privacy right, Obama is confirming his intent to only select pro-abortion judges who want no limits on abortion. [But not only abortion, folks. Think of the other things justices appointed by him might find in the penumbras formed by emanations. Think about it.]
Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life, a pro-life legal group, understands the enormous impact of the presidential election on the Supreme Court [And not just because of abortion!] and how an Obama victory could keep unlimited abortions in place for decades.
"This is a historic election," she told USA Today. "With the next president having the opportunity to appoint one, two or even more justice on the life issue." [And not only the life issue. Start thinking about, well… eminent domain. Do you own your own home or land?]
The differences are clear, with McCain saying he wants judges who won’t make up law form the bench but who will respect the rights of the people and their elected officials to make the law on abortion.
In a February letter to the Federalist Society, McCain sounded out the kinds of themes that delight pro-life groups.
In the letter, McCain promised to nominate "judges who understand that their role is to faithfully apply the law as written, not impose their opinions through judicial fiat."
"When I was running for president in 1999 I promised that, in appointing judges, I would not only insist on persons who were faithful to the Constitution, but persons who had a record that demonstrated that fidelity," the letter said.
For Obama, a pro-abortion litmus test is nothing new.
As early as a November 2007 debate with Democratic primary candidates, Obama confirmed he would only back pro-abortion Supreme Court picks.
"I would not appoint somebody who doesn’t believe in the right to privacy," he said.
Penumbras formed by emanations, everyone. Penumbras formed by emanations.
Think about this.
Now think about scary things beyond the penumbras and emanations.
Cobwebs on the Constitution.
Election zombies.
Federal judiciary vampires.
The tombstones of the unborn and elderly.

The truly scary thing will be the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). There is no certainty when Obama (supposing he is elected) would be able to appoint a Supreme Court Justices. He has promised to get FOCA through as one of his first priorities. A liberal House and Senate will help him take care of this.
FOCA would result in an increase in abortions and the use of taxpayer dollars for abortion. Instead of praying the Rosary at the Supreme Court we need to start praying it at the Capitol.

You’re correct that Griswold v. Connecticut established a right to privacy in the Constitution, but it wasn’t an abortion decision. Griswold was about the use of contraceptives.

You won’t need to wait for the first Obama judges to hit the bench.
Obama will get warmed up with the usual first day executive orders – repealing the Mexico City policy, etc. But he has also promised to sign the Freedom of Choice Act – which would at a stroke wipe out the limited legal restraints we have been able to squeeze by the courts over the years – as soon as it hits his desk, and he intends to have that will happen in his first week.
It will also take away a health care provider’s right to refuse to perform the procedure.
Griswold specifically concerned the access of married couples to contraceptives. But the right to privacy was first speculated in the late 19th century, and first used in a SCOTUS decision empowering…wait for it…German Catholic immigrants in the midwestern US who were homeschooling their children.
the horror, the horror…I pray that none of this happens.
Prayer and voting – prayer and voting.
The truly scary thing will be the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA).
The truly scary thing would be what comes next. If it comes to this (quod Deus advertat), a large number of bishops will be watched closely to see if their words will be matched by deeds. It’s not for me to instruct a bishop. But if no ecclesiastical penalty should attend the Obama administration acts of Pelosi et al., the public at large will draw their own conclusions.
All history comes down to a cosmic struggle over who will be bending the knee to Whom.

Let’s get serious with these prayers and sacrifices. In this remaining 4 days till election day, let’s bombard Heaven with supplications because dire indeed is the consequence. Very dire.
This, in the event of an Obama victory at the polls, if he sticks to what he says, seems to me to open the way, as never before, to the judicial interpretation of the Constitution : what is known as krytocracy. Oh, of course it’s not a new thing. But what is new is its breathtaking scope and the frightening, terrible, possibilities. God help the United States of America.
Unless Obama tries to issue a “FOCA” executive order, which I think even he would be reluctant to do, the bill will have to get past the Senate first. The Democrats will have majorities in both houses, so the House won’t be able to help much, but Republicans can filibuster in the Senate IF_THEY_HAVE_41_VOTES. The prospect that they might not, so that there would be no brakes on Obama whatsoever, is what really frightens me.
All that talk of “penumbras” and “emanations” in Roe vs. Wade [Griswold] is not the language of law; it is a gnostic incantation!
Truly diabolical. God have Mercy on America indeed. May He also have Mercy on those possessed souls who plan to pull the lever for a man who represents ever interest of Satan. But for the Grace of God…..
I began urging prayers for this election almost a year ago. If this antichrist gets it, it won’t be because I didn’t pray and fight and plead the case day and night for months.

I’m so scared by this election that I am sick to my stomach.
It isn’t so much that we are threatened by socialism and perhaps even the Muslims, the effect will be that so many are going to be put to death.

Father is right. Obviously to us as people of faith, abortion is an important issue and a pro abortion litmus test for LIFETIME appointees to the federal judiciary is a terrible thing, but avoiding a liberal administration’s appointments to the courts is important for many other reasons as well. Aside from the ‘penumbra of rights’ that come from a “living” constitution, as liberals would have us believe, is the issue of the interpretation of the Commerce Clause. We need more conservative justices to reign in the Court’s interpretation of that important clause as well- it is the basis for our monstrously large, growing, and seemingly self-perpetuating federal government and most, if not all, of the entitlement and welfare programs and other federal intrusion into our everyday lives…

We are accused of being a one issue people. So be it! So were the Abolitionists before us, and so is the declaration of Independence. Self evident truth that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator, and not the government, with certainly inalienable rights, among which are LIFE, etc. When some are denied the right to life we are well along the way to deny it to others who can get in the way of our prosperity. Not to say we should pray less or that this isn’t a topic worth reporting and reading upon, but it always helps to keep in focus: the battle has been won. Sleepless nights and election induced nausea are not from God, they are the enemy’s weapons against us. It is full time now to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed: the night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light!

The right to privacy invoked by the US Supreme Court in 1973 and since invoked by ‘pro-choice’ people has ensured that around 20,000,000 of the 46,000,000 potential voters aborted since then (pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute figures) won’t have a choice on Tuesday in the privacy of the voting booth.
