Crispy fish!
“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

WOW! I can taste that fish in my mouth!
A belated Happy Birthday and may God spare you for many more…
Forgive me Father I am just a simple Brit and when I have fish it’s with chips (big fat fries!) and mushy peas. What’s that all over the fish? Happy belated birthday by the way!
Belated Wishes for a Very Happy Birthday!
Its ALIVE!!!!! I saw it move.
[HB!]
Sweet & sour fried fish?
I dont like fish much (pretty much tolerate it during lent, I give up meat the whole 40 days as a penance) but I must say, that looks yummy!
Happy Birthday Father,
Many many happy returns, Fr. Z.
Since when has the good Father used words like “peeps” ?!? ;~ )
Ad multos annos, good Father Z! Happy birthday.
Bewildered Bette, quite an un-gracious comment. If you don’t enjoy the blog, why spend your time here?
Did you try the fins and tail? If they prepared it properly, those spiny parts should be easily edible too!
¡Feliz Cumpleaños, Padre!
Happy Birthday.
That fish freaks me right out.
Father Z. You keep on stimulaing my appetite, which does me no good as most of my trousers have turned useless. But regardless of me, if you continue who will be able to find a fitting cassock for you? I know of some priests who were like a match when ordained and are now like a box of matches….
Happy birthday Fr Z.
Ah..Vietnamese
One of the great perks of living in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area.
Tim H: Chinese, actually, but the theory is much the same. It was tasty, I must say.
Belated Prayers for your Birthday! God grant you many years in health and happiness! (Traditional Byzantine Blessing)
In ICXC,
Fr. Deacon Daniel
Happy belated birthday!
Belated “saan yat fai lock” (Cantonese) to you Father!
I also love crispy fish. My mom makes on special occasions.
Feliz cumpleaños, Fr. Z. Que Dios lo acompañe y bendiga su trabajo.
Thank you Fr.
As an old U of MN alumnus (BA Chinese, 1990), I know of a few Chinese places around town, some pretty good even, but it is the huge Vietnamese population that really sets the Twin Cities apart from any other part of the country, except Houston and parts of California.
Tim H: Yes, that is a distinctive group here in the Twins. But the Chinese population seems to be growing quickly, and with it some really good restaurants. This was at the Szechuan Tea House in East St. Paul. They make fabulous xiao long bao, by the way.
There are many other dishes to recommend as well.
