With a biretta tip to The Papist o{]:¬)
The Holy Father seems to be having some … Fanta!

“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

The Successor of Peter drinking Fanta? That is not very traditional eh. Don’t you need an indult for that? :D
Somewhere, I saw it published that The Holy Father has a favourite beer. Anyone?
I’d like to drink to him even if it’s …. Nastro Azzurro

Doesn’t look artificial orange enough for me to be Fanta. Bet it’s San Pellegrino Aranciata.
Looks like Gatoraide to me.
ginseng tea?
The Holy Father is also known to enjoy Orangina.
Fanta in Germany (and I suppose Italy) is a little different than in the USA. It has more juice in it and appears less orangy. Think less Orange Crush and more Orangina. Here is a link to what it looks like: http://www.germandeli.com/faor2liplbo.html
Metamucil?
Sorry, couldn’t help myself, but that’s what it looks like.
or maybe San Benedetto Thé Freddo?
Tom,
From Ratzinger fanclub dot com:
\”Cardinal Ratzinger\’s favorite beer? – From the New York Times April 24, 2005:
. . . The new pope is not, however, a teetotaler: Cardinal Bertone said he occasionally allows himself a glass of \”excellent\” wine from Piedmont. Manuela Macher, co-owner of the Cantina Tirolese, a Bavarian restaurant near the Vatican where he is a regular, said he also liked an occasional German beer, Franziskaner Weissbier. Which raises a question: Does he order the large size or the small?\”
Oh dear. I wonder if the Holy Father has read this?:

Although the Holy Father’s predilection for the orange soda pop is well known, I wonder whether that is what he was enjoying in the picture. It looks like a sort of herbal infusion, which he may well have been drinking to soothe his throat – it sounded a bit scratchy the other day. If his throat was sore, this would militate against his drinking sugary, syrupy, carbonated beverage.
It would also suggest the opportunity of praying to St. Blaise for the HF.
I switched to Fanta after I read that the Holy Father claims it as his favorite soda. After reading the link that English Catholic posted, I think I’ll switch to 7-Up!
Its Tequila.
Gosh, it does look like Metamucil.
Hey, Pope Pius X occasionally had a plug of tobacco in his mouth during Pontifical Masses as Pope…..why not have Fanta?
The Holy Father may slake his thirst on any drink that he wishes!
God bless him and protect him.
A bit of orange concentrate mixed with seltzer is an appreciable substitute for those here in the US.
