A reader, KK, sent this.

“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

Oh, Fr. Z, that truly is priceless!
Love it!
So tonight’s family discussion at dinner was if any of us had figured out what the “A word” was that was mentioned on an earlier post. Discussion went on to the fact that we had never heard of Septuagesima & that we had been taught that basically the period b/t Ash Weds. to the first Sunday of Lent was “Pre-Lent”. Read Fr.s post on Septuagesima. Further discussion about why the loss of this in the NO & then the dinner discussion concluded with asking if anyone had been thinking about the sacrifices they were going to make during Lent. I was considering Catholic blogs.
A year ago, I was mildly award of their existence. Now wdtprs.com is my home page & I’m on it bit too much to the demise of good mom-things, like reading aloud to our little ones & getting dinner fixed on time. Our older kids showed me this receipt as a reason I shouldn’t give up, at least this site, up for Lent.
“We want you to get to heaven, Mom and we like Fr. Z as our daily’e-pastor’”
They also don’t want to get salmonella poisoning. Before today I was pretty lax about cleaning the cutting boards after preparing meat on them.
Does anyone know if there is a search function for this blog?
I’m trying to track down a hilarious “Caption” call from a year or so ago with Pope Benedict looking up in the sky with a uneasy look on his face and someone suggested a caption along the lines of “look, up there, the spirit of Vatican II.”
It was hilarious, but I cannot find the page.
Please help.
No advice, Nick, but I remember laughing quite hard at that one. Hope you find it!
I was thinking about your “tasty recipes” while browsing “From a Monastery Kitchen” and “Twelve Months of Monastery Soups” last night–and it occurred to me: What about Food Network? It could be this generation’s Fulton Sheen. And, more likely to happen this way then any Network actually picking up a show by an orthodox priest–you could be covert and sneak in some catechesis between courses.
Oh, that ‘receipt’ is soooo creative-I love it!
Can almost hear the voice-over guy from the MasterCard commercials reading this….
Yeah, it is–priceless!
Lindsay-oooo, that’d be a cool idea for the Food Network! ‘Cooking with Fr. Z’!

…and yes it would be great if wdtprs had a search engine!
You can do a Google search of any website by going to “Advanced Search” and entering the domain (e.g. wdtprs.com). It works a lot better than many search engines on the sites themselves.
