hash #

When people use Twitter, they often use hash tags.

A bit confusing….

You might chime in with commonly used Catholic topic hash tags.

Of course hash tags are ephemeral as well, topical!

Wanna find Tweets with hashes?

Go to http://search.twitter.com, and search for, for example, the hash code ‘#tlm’ and you will find the tweets including that tag.

Forgive my denseness, Father, but I simply do not understand what Twitter is. Will you tell us how it works and why is it referred to so often? Give examples please. Thanks.

  2. William: You could look it up on the … the… internet thingy.

Seriously, it is a form of microblogging, much as what is done here but much much shorter and quicker.

In trying to understand this a bit [not sure that I do—if you write a “#” and add some sort of word or phrase within a tweet you create a ‘tag’ or subject that can be searched??] I somehow managed to find this:

    http://kithbridge.com/tcot/

It’s a site listing the Top Conservatives On Tweeter!
FrZ, you’re number 60 in the most interesting column! ;)

  4. Mary Ann says:

    TWITTER, that is! ;)

  5. Rachel says:

Great, the first tweet I see uses “TLM” to mean “the love makers”. :)

What’s wrong with you people? This is supposed to be the vanguard. Get on Twitter! Follow @fatherz!

While you’re at it, follow @taxplaya, which is me :) And don’t forget @ipadre, @NLMsite, etc. Lots of good Catholic tweeps out there.

    Hashtags I see include #catholic

Still don’t get it! Dense! When you first started to “tweet,” Padre Z, I too subscribed to it–then these baleful women started following me all over the place. I do hope that I’m not missing out on anything important by sticking with WDTRS.
