Two years later… the “gravitational pull”

From the blog Ten Reasons I find this brick by brick post – with a rather nice turn of phrase in it!

Feeling gravity’s pull

A friend who would know tells me that the Friday 9 AM Latin Mass in the Ordinary Form resumes at St. Cecilia Church on Cincinnati’s East side this Friday, September 11, and will continue every second and fourth Friday. It arrives just in time to celebrate the "gravitational pull" of Summorum Pontificum on the motu proprio’s September 14 second anniversary.

That’s funny…for a moment, I was trying to figure out what they meant by “14 second anniversary”. Maybe it’s time for that head examination my wife has been telling me to get…

A fine way to imagine the “mutual enrichment” of the two Forms of the one Rite for which the Holy Father expressed hope in his cover letter.

Rich Leonardi does a great job. He’s also described his own parish, which is not far from St. Cecilia, as a “shrine to liturgical abuse.” The gravitational pull of SP, like everything else in Cincinnati, is a bit behind the times, but there is new hope on the horizon in the person of Archbishop Dennis Schnurr.

  4. Thanks for the link, Father.

Sedgwick/John, leaving aside that this post is about a positive development, my parish has a new pastor and we’re hopeful that some past practices will be discarded.

It is good to hear of changes out there. I must say, that it would be nice if we saw a brick or two here in So Cal.
