From a reader:
Here in ___ , a young Catholic mother is in the final stages of breast cancer. While pregnant, Debbie ___ was diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors wanted to abort the baby, but Debbie refused. The baby (a healthy boy) is now two years old, but the mother is near the end, save divine intervention. Perhaps you could request prayer.
WDTPRSers… perhaps in your goodness, you would again think to ask God for a miracle in this concrete case of urgent need.
May I suggest that you ask this miracle through the intercession of Ven. Pauline Jaricot?
Almighty God, who knew us all from before creation
called us into being according to Your plan,
and knit us together in our mother’s wombs,
we humbly beseech You,
through the intercession of Venerable Pauline Jaricot,
who cared for the sick during her earthly life,
that the young mother Debbie be swiftly and completely cured of her cancer
for her sake,
for her child’s sake,
for her family’s sake,
for our sake,
and that Your glory and mercy may be manifest.
Venerable Pauline, we ask you in this urgent need,
pray now before God’s throne
that Debbie be completely and swiftly healed by God’s miraculous act,
that He be glorified in its working,
that we be edified by His mercy,
that you may be better recognized as God’s good servant.
Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we thank you for your gifts and mercy.
In Jesus’ Name we beg that this be done according to God’s will.
Amen.
May we have ALL WDTPRSers do this?
Those of you who are registered, chime in.
Also, remember that praying to many saints and angels, while praiseworthy, makes the authentication of the miracle for more difficult.
Through the intercession of Venerable Pauline Jaricot.
Amen.

I recently had a moving encounter with some Little Sisters of the Poor. As I understand it, one of soon-to-be-Canonized Jean Jugan’s miracles was the healing of a cancer patient medicine deemed about hopeless. I’ll say a Novena for her intercession in this case.
I’m saying the prayer for the intersession of Ven. Pauline Jaricot right now, too.
I pray that God’s infinite providence and infinite comfort will work for this family. :)
Lord in your mercy, hear us!

Perhaps you could give some of us who aren’t as current on those being considered for sainthood by giving a bit of background on the Venerable Pauline Jaricot. I know I can google and I will, and I will pray. Just a thought to always keep the newbies (like me) up to speed.

I have said the prayer but am shaken at the similarity with my own daughter’s experience — with one HUGE exception. Erika, my daughter, is 32 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with breast cancer at 20 weeks. What shakes me to the core is that it seems Debbie, for whom we are praying, must not have known what we know — cancer CAN be treated during pregnancy. Our daughter traveled to MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston, TX for further diagnosis and found that they have been treating cancer during pregnancy for the past 20 years. There have been NO detrimental effects on these babies during this time!
Erika is currently undergoing chemotherapy, locally in Kentucky, for her breast cancer and the baby is doing fine! Baby Rachel Eleonore is growing by leaps and bounds, shows off for the ultrasound every three weeks, and is experiencing no side effects at all! She is fittingly due on Thanksgiving Day and should be no worse for her mother’s trials. Erika, on the other hand, will resume another round of chemo and then have a bilateral mastectomy shortly after delivery.
As a 3.5 year survivor myself, I am well aware of the need for quick treatment. Erika and I are generations 5 and 4, respectively, and our ancestors didn’t fare so well. My mother died at 58 and my grandmother at 42. The gene we carry is the BRAC-1 triple negative gene which also carries a heightened risk of ovarian cancer. Ours is not some namby pamby gene!
The reason I share this is for all of the other ‘Debbies’ out there who may think they have no choices. Abortion has been proven to be of no benefit at all in the prognosis in pregnant breast cancer patients while chemotherapy has been shown to do no harm to the babies. Please God that as many pregnant cancer patients as possible be made aware of this important medical information. Note that we are not well-to-do, just an average working class family. Lives CAN be saved! God’s blessings to Debbie, may He heal her!
I have prayed.
On this feast of St. Francis, I ask him for a miracle. I have just had breast cancer surgery with a good prognosis. May God have mercy on this dear young mother.

Prayed the prayer you posted, Father Z.
Through the intercession of Blessed Pauline Jaricot, Amen.
Sherrytex-I can give you some background on Venerable Pauline [hope you don’t mind, Father Z]. She was of a well-to-do French family, and grew up during the French Revolution and its aftermath. Her early life was rather frivolous-clothes, parties, that kind of thing. A freak accident in her home-she was reaching up for a box on a shelf or closet when she lost her balance and fell off a chair-left her with impaired health for the rest of her life.
She founded the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and the ‘Living Rosary’. When she made a pilgrimage to Italy in a dying state, she was cured at the shrine of St. Philomena in Lugano. The news of the cure was the beginning of the widespread devotion to St. Philomena, then a young unknown martyr whose tomb was found in the catacombs around the same time. Pauline corresponded with St. John Vianney, the Cure of Ars, who became one of St. Philomena’s greatest devotees.
Pauline was interested in helping the working class. She invested a lot of money in a Catholic ‘factory town’ in France-but some fellow investors were crooked and the venture failed. She spent the rest of her days trying to repay the debts that were incurred in this project.
Oh-some of the Catholic hierarchy in France were very jealous of Pauline’s success with the Society for the Propagation for the Faith [sounds like ‘deja vu all over again’ when you think about Mother Angelica, EWTN, and the attitudes of the Bishops of the US]. But the Cure of Ars was a great support to her in her sufferings and trials.
Er-should have said, ‘Venerable Pauline Jaricot’.
Maybe I’d better use the ‘Preview’ button before posting a long one like this…sorry…
Late to the punch, but -finis et amen.
Please add to your prayers “Diana” who is a single mother with two young children and is near death. She has no family at all and as she nears death her only concern is finding someone to care for her children.
Amen. And I add to my prayer my sufferings today, which include the pain of losing my daughter, six months gestation, stillborn.
