    1. Beautiful. Nonetheless, since it is my privilege to offer Mass here at home, I won’t be there. But I do know a devout soul—who is a great encouragement to me—who will be there, and he will surely give me a report. A blessed Christmas to all!

    3. The Victoria and Poulenc “O Magnum Mysterium” in the same Mass!! Is it still possible to get air tickets to New York?

    4. If I had the money to go on the train AND have a place to stay, I’d love to be there!

      The music sounds heavenly!

      Sigh….

    5. I’m glad that such glorious music is to be had on Christmas. It sort of makes me want to cry, though, because I don’t get to have music like that at home on Christmas, though we sometimes have good things on Sundays.

    6. This sounds wonderful, and I wish I could make it, but I have been called up for lector duty at my home parish (in the Archdiocese of N.Y.)

The REALLY great thing would be a matter of eight words: Christmas Midnight Mass—St. Patrick’s Cathedral—Extraordinary Form. It’s been televised live every year on WPIX-TV Ch. 11 since 1948, so imagine the impact of televising a Pontifical Christmas Midnight Mass in the EF, in the media capital of the world …

    7. Does anyone know if there would be parking at midnight?
I’ll be in Paramus, NJ this year and would love to worship in the extraordinary form! Traditional Ordinary form would be great as well…any suggestions?

    10. Father, thank you so much for posting this! I used to live in Pittsburgh and was a parishioner of St. Boniface of the Pittsburgh Latin Mass Community. Then I moved to Chicago and attend St. John Cantius or Sts. Peter and Paul in Naperville…now I am home in NJ for Christmas and God is so good of taking care of me! My sister, her boyfriend, and I are going to attend!

cdruiz – we are taking the train in to Penn Station – its only a few blocks from the church. Besides – who actually drives and parks in Manhattan anyway!!??

    11. Wow! We married at Our Lady of Victories Church!

With 4 young children, my wife isn’t too keen on the idea of taking the train at night.

    12. What wonderful selections!

I wish I could stay in town for Midnight Mass (at midnight!) to sing with my parish choir. The Friars at my church celebrate the liturgy reverently and support the music program. I wish I could say the same about my mom’s parish. Maybe next year I can convince my mother stay with me for a few days and join me for midnight mass. But that would make it difficult to make it to my sister’s house for dinner and the gift exchange. I guess I’ll just offer it up. :)

    13. Our Lady of Victories is a lovely church. The celebrant for the 9:00 p.m. Mass is a very good priest who gives great sermons. If I didn’t have to be somewhere else, I would go to hear his sermon.

    14. See you in a few hours Father. I will be attending this Mass and have been looking forward to it all day..

    15. I can’t be there, but, I’ll be celebrating with all in Spirit. I’m off to Midnight Mass – yes, at midnight! Hurry, He’s almost here!

God’s blessings of Peace and Joy to all.

    16. Should it not be Holy Innocents’ since it is plural? Just curious. There was more than one in the infanticides.

    17. What a Mass it was.

      Comment by Fr. John Zuhlsdorf — 25 December 2009 @ 3:06 am
    18. Fr Z, I’m happy you were able to attend.

I had to “settle” for the Christmas Eve Mass at 9PM at St. Boniface. Incense, Gregorian and Polyphonic Chant….it was the most beautiful Mass I have ever attended. A part of me did not want Mass to end.

There we so many people there younger than me (I’m 46) and so many children, including small children – and very little crying. My wife and two year old son are fighting illnesses at this time so they stayed home.

      Marry Christmas to all!

    19. Congratulations, Father, and a Happy and Holy Christmas! Now, may I suggest that you immediately begin traveling about the country saying the Traditional Mass, esp. in those dioceses who have resisted or ignored Summorum? (How are you on horseback?)
