The Feeder Feed

I have only a single male Cardinal coming around to the feeder.  There is a female lurking somewhere also, but I haven’t seen her for a while.

They are very alert and skittish.

He does go up on the feeder, an open feeder with a surface to stand on, but in general he prefers to eat on the ground.

One Cardinal does not a conclave make.

With my upcoming trips, I think I will have to find a somewhat larger feeder, requiring less frequent replenishment.  The last trip was … not successful, I think, at least as far as the birds were concerned.  It was very cold and my substitute did not refill, alas.

I am missing some chickadees and finches. I haven’t seen a House Finch since I have returned.

Where will your trips be taking you, Father?

missing some diners, eh? Well you know how it is, once an eatery disappoints, the clientele will find another place. It can take awhile to think about trusting that ole’ place again.

somehow, though, I think the ravenous horde won’t be gone for long…just in time for you to leave again. heh.

I love the world of your birds. I appreciate being able to share in the drama, beauty, and simple pleasure.

I love all your birdie pics, Father Z!

Hope you get a bigger feeder so they won’t ‘starve’-maybe someone will give it as a Christmas gift!

Cardinals are especially brilliant amidst the winter snows!

  6. irish: I feed the birds from donations. Donations come… they eat.

I have, also, a larger feeder, which I have not yet put together and set up. It is a bit warmer today. Perhaps I will do it right now!
