“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

RIP.
I remember him in 1996 comprehensively demolishing an argument advanced by a rather patronising philosopher at a conference in Belfast. He was no less mentally alert at the Belfast Scholasticism conference in June of 2008; I teased him about his tentative acceptance of an invitation to it, as he claimed that he might not live long enough to attend! He did, thank God. Ar dheis Dé go raith a anam dílis
I met him in Rome once, we had a very nice but brief conversation at St. John Lateran.
