I has been a few years since I have been in this interesting city.
From my hotel room.

On the ferry.

From my room.

I had forgotten how interesting this town is.
I look foward to coming back.

“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

We look forward to having you back. My husband and I would like to hear you speak. Yes, it is interesting.
Wish I could convince you to come down south and visit us here in Orange County. I’m sure the traditionalists here would be most welcoming.
Father: You write great articles on various subjects. You have very eclectric tastes: theologian, liturgist, food expert, photographer, IT technician…. Thank you for sharing these with us.
The word, of course, is ECLECTIC.
Electric works too, Mr. Phelan…:)

Comment by William H. Phelan
IMHO, in “eclectric” you seem to have invented an interesting word.
“Eclectric: adj. referring to or encompassing a variety of aspects related to electronics or electronic equipment. ex. “The Technology Convention was an eclectric gathering of companies displaying the latest developments in computers and technology.”
Oooo-cool pictures there, Fr. Z!
Makes one forget the terrible sins that are committed in the city….
Hey, where are all the pictures of the great food you ate? Are we to believe you missed out on the amazing food and wine? How I miss the Bay Area!
Electric Eclectric Eclectic E-clericity. Very nice pics, Padre Z.
LOL! I was waiting for someone to make a crack about SF’s “sins”…..
From my travels, the sins of SF are no more or less than other American metropolitans I’ve visited.
I would have to say the same. Culturally, it is certainly more libertine than other politically progressive cities like Boston, but there ARE plenty of normal, ordinary people living in San Francisco.
Jeffrey and Childermass-I’m sure that there are ‘normal, ordinary people’ living in San Francisco, as there are in other large cities.
I only wish that they were more visible and voluble! All you hear about are the noisy ones who constantly ‘demand’ their agenda be shoved down everyone else’s throats!
Ah, well…the squeaky wheel gets the grease, I’m afraid…and that’s all I’m going to say on this….don’t want to get in trouble with Fr. Z….sigh.
