CURLING UPDATE

I don’t know if you will be able to tear yourselves away to go to Friday night devotions, but tonight there is plenty of CURLING to see!

Alas, in the RESULTS: the USA men (all from Minnesota, no?) are way down there, as in 0-4. Not encouraging. And the women are next to last. Soooo….

BUT… it’s still CURLING, that’s that important part!

GO USA! BEAT FRANCE!

  1. Yay team!

Man, if that had been any closer, they’d have had to use a micrometer….

I would like to know: whatever IS curling?

    Amazing.

As Christopher Morley said about the Baker Street Irregulars, never has so much been done by so many for so few.

  4. Maltese says:

AMAZING! These guys can sweep better than a Molly Maid on speed, seriously!

Nice seeing Jagr skating on US tv again. He’s got such a distinctive skating posture, I recognized him right away.

I was just thinking that it is time for pictures of food from Father Z, a nice break from the deep theological discussions:) But wow, curling! You are just too cool. I should have known.

  7. Mariana says:

Here it is live in the middle of the night, so no tearing away from anything except bed : ) !

  8. Jacob says:

Father, tell us about the John Shuster controversy.

That guy you have a picture of above is the father of the alternate who came in for Shuster.

  9. Penguins Fan says:

I’m waiting for Canada vs. USA – hockey – Sunday night.

    Curling?……uh, okay.

You’d never have guessed it, but curling has become quite popular in China because of the recent success of the Chinese women’s team. Curling is one of the sports covered the most on Chinese TV coverage of the Olympics, and Chinese fans are becoming pretty knowledgable. I was staying with a friend’s family over the Spring Festival (up in Hohhot Inner Monglolia) and the father of the house was telling us what strategy to use and what throw to try next–I was pretty impressed. I got to see the Chinese women in person in Japan back in 2007 and 2008 at the curling tournament in Karuizawa they have there every year–they’re the real deal. And I’m really happy that now they managed to knock off Canada in 11 ends–Zhongguo Dui, jia you!
