   Hi Father.Please let me suggest “The Sacred Made Real” at the National Gallery of Art.From the Gallery’s website ” Arrestingly real sculptures and paintings of the saints, the Immaculate Conception, and the Passion of Christ are among some 20 Spanish masterpieces of the 17th century ” Also 2 of my boys,along with 60 school mates, are presently there on a field trip.

   You should see the statue of “Isabella the Catholic” on 17th, just north of Constitution (near the Whitehouse and the Washington Monument).

   Father, I had planned to be in DC this weekend for the Mass at the basilica, but unfortunatelly my plans did not work out. I will be watching on EWTN.

   For a one of a kind dimsum experience you might want to try Ping Pong Restaurant located at 900 7th Street NW, in DC.

   Oh, how I wish I could be there at the Shrine for the Mass! I’ll have to content myself with watching it on EWTN on my computer.

   Father, another of my favorite restaurants in DC is Brasserie Beck (1101 K Street Northwest, DC). Great Belgian/French cuisine.

   Eat like a presidents at the iconic Ben’s Chili Bowl directly across the street from the U Street/African American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo stop on the Green Line. When you get to the station, exit towards 13th street and we are across U Street from the escalators. Their signature dish is Bill Cosby’s Original Chili Half-Smoke – $5.20. It is kind of a hole in the wall so, FYI.

   More on dining: I’ve heard good things from Chinese friends about Full Kee in Chinatown. I dined there once with great success, after Mass at Old St. Mary’s of course.

    Up the street from Saint Mary’s in D.C. is a place called Matchbox (H street between 7th and 8th, NW). In addition to great pizza and sliders, it serves Chimay on tap. Ten bucks, but some of it goes to the Trappists in Belgium who brew it.

    The Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima) is overwhelming.

    If you have wheels, the 1st Bull Run Battlefield is also worth a visit.

    Let me second JG’s suggestion. Saw it in London a few months ago. It is a moving collection of this particularly `catholic, Spanish art form – and not too large (unlike the van Gogh at the Royal Academy)
