Taleban hang 7-year-old boy to punish family
Jerome Starkey, Kandahar

A seven-year-old boy was murdered by the Taleban in an apparent act of retribution this week. Afghan officials said that the child was accused of spying for US and Nato forces and hanged from a tree in southern Afghanistan.

Daoud Ahmadi, the spokesman for the provincial governor of Helmand, said that the killing happened days after the boy’s grandfather, Abdul Woodod Alokozai, spoke out against militants in their home village.

Mr Ahmadi said: “His grandfather is a tribal elder in the village and the village is under the control of the Taleban. His grandfather said some good things about the Government and he formed a small group of people to stand against the Taleban. That’s why the Taleban killed his grandson in revenge.”  [And if the USA says it will pull troop out at a certain time… guess what will happen?  This sort of thing will increase.]

The attack happened in Heratiyan, in Sangin, near where insurgents shot down an American Pave Hawk helicopter on Wednesday, killing all four crew. The helicopter was swooping over the town to suppress attacks on a grounded air ambulance, which was picking up British casualties.

Shamsuddin Khan Faryie, an elder in Heratiyan, said that the boy, identified as the son of Abul Qudooz, was seized as he played in his garden. He was found hanged from a nearby tree.

Mr Faryie said that there were conflicting reports within the village over who was responsible. “Some people said that it was Taleban,” he said. “Some people said they were private enemies. Some Taleban I spoke to said that he was a spy. Some said that it wasn’t them.” [Sounds about right.  Create an atmosphere of terror among the population.  They won’t dare raise their voices or act against the Taliban.]

The killing of children to punish their families has echoes of Western mafia-style violence. Under Pashtunwali, the ancient honour code of the Pashtuns, it is likely to provoke more vendettas and blood-letting.

Qari Yousef Ahmaid, the Taleban spokesman, denied that any of his militants were involved. “The Taleban’s enemies are the Afghan Government and the foreign forces,” he said. “We never kill children. Everyone knows a seven-year-old can’t be a spy.” [Uh huh.]

Where is the outrage from the “world community?” If this story isn’t a reality check for the looney-left, I don’t know what else can do it.

  2. But TJerome, you can’t bash Islam, that’d be wrong…;)

If we accept Sharia law, we can expect more of these types of things

  3. Where’s the mainstream media?

  4. Flambeaux says:

I recall reading a few years ago about Taleban tactics to intimidate and subjugate their enemies. They involved inviting a family to a “peaceful negotiation” which would be sealed with a meal. The main course: one of the young sons of the family that had spoken out against the Taleban stuffed and roasted.

And everyone on CAF is crying about the girl who was lost at sea for a few days and how her parents should be thrown in jail for it and punished.

Here’s a tragedy for you guys. Grow up!

  6. irishgirl says:

torch621-the girl who was at sea has been found ALIVE! She’s all right!

This, though, is chilling-poor little guy.

The Taliban shows no mercy, and this is a preview of what’s going to happen if we pull out of Afghanistan.

“Where’s the mainstream media?” Comment by Diane

NOWHERE. I just googled this article…the MSM is NOWHERE. Their silence speaks volumes.

Sometimes I think the only solution to the barbarity in the middle east is carpet bombing the place and turning it into a “sea of glass.” Then we could build Disneyland Tel Aviv, and there would be plenty of parking.

  9. irishgirl says:

    I’m thinking the same thing, Latter-day Guy….

I’ve noticed we don’t hear much about those “wicked” Crusaders and how they treated the poor Muslims, anymore. This is only one example of what they were up against. It’s Christian (Catholic) principle not to harm women and children…not Muslim.

And let us not forget the vast number of babies killed in their own mother’s womb right in the USA. The Culture of Death is everywhere, it seems. Kyrie, eleison.

  12. Glen M says:

Christian birth rates are near or below self sustaining levels. Muslim are three times that. Do the math. In a couple generations we’ll be under attack again. Countries like Germany will have a Muslim majority in fifty years.

I don’t see how a tribal feud 8,000 miles away is any of America’s business.

Meanwhile, less than 10 miles from me, in the time since that boy was hanged, Feminists have ripped 20 unborn babies to shreds.

    Re “Where’s the mainstream media?”

I don’t get the question – is it sarcastic? If the _Times_ of London isn’t the mainstream media, then what is?!

  16. JonM says:

    Mainstream media is covering this.

Yes, there are bad people in the Taliban organization but…

Where is the ‘mainstream media’ over the hundreds of civilian deaths due to cavalier use of Predator drones that shoot Hellfire missiles?

Yes, ‘Predator drones’ carry ‘Hellfire’ missiles. Tell me again that we are a Christian nation.

Meanwhile back stateside, Lady Gaga/MTV/the music industry is allowed to commit another round of horrific child endangerment and grave offense against the Church with not a peep. Abortion is freely available, birth control is practiced by 85+% of practicing Catholics, less than 1% of the nation owns nearly 2/5ths of national wealth, real unemployment is 23%, the Gulf Coast is ecologically dead, etc.

  17. JonM says:

Father, all due respect to you, but I have to disagree on the troop commitment in Afghanistan.

Marines are dispatched to protect opium field, a former oil executive sits at the nominal leader of the fragile state, and the security situation is in shambles.

There is no coherant mission, troop suicides and mental problems are at all time highs. Though ‘only’ 1,000 Americans have died, a massive proportion have sustained cripling amputations (limbs, genitals, etc.)

The mission has resulted in hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths and many well-connected firms have made a real ‘killing’ off the never ending war. Now we are about to get sucked into a new war in Pakistan, for fuzzy ever-morphing reasons.

There is no possible what Jesus Christ, as I can see it, that Jesus Christ approves of this.

I’m past draft age, but many who are are becoming ‘economic conscripts’ because there are no jobs available (the worsening recession has being particularly harmful to men, over 65% of job cuts sustained by males; this of course causes deep emotional disress for reasons that are obvious.)

To top it off, our country is totally flat broke seven ways to Sunday.

In every way of analysis, in my view, there is no justification for remaining in these quagmires.
