Thank you, Holy Father!

WDTPRS thanks Pope Benedict XVI for the great gift of Summorum Pontificum.

℣. Let us pray for Benedict, our Pope.
℟. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.

Our Father,  Hail Mary.

O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, look mercifully upon Thy servant Benedict, whom Thou hast chosen as shepherd to preside over Thy Church. Grant him, we beseech Thee, that by his word and example, he may edify those over whom he hath charge, so that together with the flock committed to him, may he attain everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Just finished teaching a class on Summorum Pontificum to attentive seminarians who love our Holy Father Benedict!

I sang my Te Deum this morning. (and Vexilla Regis, of course)

    Amen.

Many prayers being said for our Holy Father here.

Today, the anniversary of Summorum Pontificum, is also the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross! Just as the True Cross was restored to its rightful place in Christendom, the Tridentine Latin Mass was restored to its rightful place in parishes the world over!

    Thank you Pope Benedict XVI!

A hymn to Benedict XVI, by God’s grace, now gloriously reigning:

    Then raise the chant,
    With heart and voice,
In Church & school & home:
“Long live the Shepherd of the Flock!
Long live the Pope of Rome!”
    Almighty Father bless his work,
    Protect him in his ways,
Receive his prayer, fulfill his hopes,
And grant him length? of days!

Beleaguered by the foes of earth,
    Beset by hosts of hell,
He guards the loyal flock of Christ,
    A watchful sentinel:
And yet, amid the din and strife,
The clash of mace and? sword,
He bears alone the Shepherd Staff,
    The champion of the Lord.

Amen! Thank you, Holy Papa Benedict, for ‘freeing the Traditional Latin Mass’!

Many more years to reign! WOO HOO!

In honor of Summorum Pontificum, I have just listened once again to the extraordinary and truly unforgettable sermon given by Fr. Calvin Goodwin FSSP at that first EWTN televised EF Mass three years ago. No one has yet, nor likely every will, say better in 20 minutes what that momentous day meant, to history and to the Church. For anyone who’s not yet heard it, the best thing you can do today is to to to

I remember being so happy when he was elected the Successor to St Peter, after our wonderful John Paul the Great. I remember reading things he had written as Cardinal Ratzinger back in the 80s and what he wrote gladdened my grandparents’ hearts so much. (They were so hurt by all of the changes to the Church after Vatican 2.)

  10. HighMass says:

I too like Donali remember being so happy, and still am, Indeed the Te Deum should be sung! Praise Be To Jssus Christ, Now and Forever!

In thanksgiving for Summorum Pontificum, we celebrated today a Solemn Mass for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in our Cathedral–the first TLM here since VII, I am told. We had a schola and the chant was heavenly. Our new rector is going to start offering a monthly TLM. He’s also brought vernacular chant, much improved music, and incense to our OF Masses and promises more Latin. And, of course, 100% “say the black, do the red” liturgy. Last week, at a daily Mass, he celebrated ad orientem–first time most people here had seen that–preceded by five minutes of catechesis, I am told.

    We are truly blessed!

  12. Geremia says:

As an aside, does anyone on WDTPRS know that a “Missal the Apostolic Journey” of Pope Benedict in the UK is available in PDF from the Vatican website? It is for the Glasgow mass this Thursday, and it has Gregorian chant notation and Latin, too!

  13. pfreddys says:

GOD GRANT HIM MANY HAPPY YEARS!!!!
