“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

Now THAT deserves an OOH-RAH! as well.
Semper Fi!
Nicely done. I never saw the technique of removing the solid orange layer in order to get a partially lit or ‘gray’ area. Very clever.
Love how some artists use the light cleverly and carve out not the shapes of eye, mouth, nose, etc, but rather their outlines, giving the pumpkin a super-dimensional look.
What a wonderful time of year – would be better without these torrents of rain!
Best to all. Fr. Jim.
That is indeed a very scary jack o’lantern, isn’t it? I’m sure it strikes fear into hearts the world over…
(Very nice carving skills!)
Perfect Papal pumpkin.
Surely this one merits a “Just too cool” tag as well? I love it.
This is the best pumpkin EVER!! I have 4 children and we carve many jack o’lanterns. Everyone sketches their designs first then Dad and older kids go to work. Guess what which design I am submitting? Hope they have the skills. :)
Oh! My! There is an uncarved pupmkin sitting on the garden wall….now for a knife!
Wow, that is so original and meaningful, perhaps there is a point to having Halloween after all!
Fun!! But the genitive in place of the plural was frightening :)
Oh, wow-I love it!
How did the carver do the ‘tiara’ part without puncturing the ‘skin’ of the pumpkin?
Very creative!
‘punkins’–that’s what we called them back in my childhood days. My mother used to say it when she referred to ‘Punkins on the windows’.
Just too cool.
