    Amen.

Especially with those nuclear weapons pointed at each other. I guess somebody in the world needs to wax idealistic.

Call me a skeptic, but I’m not ready to affirm that prayer intentions are all about nothing and that prayer is totally ineffective, just yet. CF, infinite number of references.

I have always thought that it would be good to include the pope’s prayer intention among the petitions in the Prayer of the Faithful. It would be another reminder of the universality of the Church and would connect us to each other across the globe…not to mention the power of millions of people praying for the same thing.

Have you ever heard them at Mass?

    anna 6,
The ‘Daily Mass’ on EWTN is the only one where I’ve heard the Holy Father’s intentions-not all the time, though.

What does the first one even mean?

The people of the Diocese of Fresno are going to need this one. We have a new bishop named today. Bishop Armando Ochoa. Please pray for us.

    Lucy,

From the Texas Catholic Conference web site: “Bishop Ochoa serves on the Bishops’ Migration Committee and participated in a Delegation on Compassionate Mission to the Border in October, 2006. The Bishop works to further many causes including diocesan foster-care programs and responsible water use.”

My prayers are with you. I live in the Diocese of Orange, California. Please pray for us, too.
I heard somewhere that the Pope was taking back California. Guess not.

  9. I posted. Perhaps this isn’t the best place to run down a bishop.

The “Click and Say Your Daily Offering” is a great way to pray daily for the monthly prayer intentions of our Holy Father. I imagine the great weight of intentions which he must have on our behalf and including these. Of course when it comes to conflicts in the world where stability is undermined, I of course am grateful for the prayers of so many who have gone before me that have helped to preserve the peace I am able to enjoy each day, while not always and inherently “perfection on the earth” still a great deal better than the horror that others in specific places are experiencing right now, and in some cases for identifying publicly as Christian. So yes I think the intention is as always important and worth praying for.
