   It hasn’t been performing well here either, but Chrome and Opera are OK. The next major version of Firefox should be better.

   I’ve found Google Chrome easier to use and faster than both Internet Explorer and Firefox. Chrome might be a good alternative to try if you’re having issues with Firefox.

   There’s a plugin called “Memory Fox”, or similar, which has helped a lot of my problems.

   Never loading on the QuickTime plugin anymore has taken care of a lot of others. (For maybe the last couple-three years, QuickTime has been almost a computer killer. I keep trying it again when it updates, and I always end up having to go back to the last save-point in order to save my poor computer from a thousand deaths.)

   What drives me crazy is gesture navigation that frequently unintentionally causes the browser to page back, I followed some instructions to turn that off but it didn’t work. To me it’s a bug not a feature!

    I had recurring crashes with Firefox 7.x that were remedied by the Places Maintenance addon. I’ve found v. 8.0 to be very well behaved. Chrome and IE work well enough for me as well, but I like the addons for Firefox to permanently abandon it.

    Right now I’m peeved at the email intranet being down in my department. I can’t do anything because I can’t access the intranet files on my email system. Grr! I’ve contemplated calling IT, but I’m sure every other person in the department across the province is calling them.

    Chrome is a bit faster, but there are so many scripts that don’t work on it.

    I suppose that I, now having entered my 67th year on this spinning ball of rock and water, am simply an old stick-in-the-mud, but I never have a problem with Firefox. . . .

    At least not since I decided to forego its use, permanently and completely. I apologize that my solution will provide you neither solace nor encouragement, but I find most “open source” applications to be a bit too focused on features and interface design assumptions that are common mostly to what we who program end-user apps tend to refer to as “bit twiddlers.” These tend to be the same sorts of people who pride themselves on writing obfuscated perl scripts. I generally find that I have better uses for my time than attempting how to interact efficiently with an interface that is not designed to be intuitive to the user.

    Something did that today. It’s awful to neither know about these things nor how to learn cyber workings in some form of order.

    Safari. It’s a great browser. Works on my Mac and my PC laptop.

    Safari sometimes crashes on my iBook. Had to send a report to Apple when I tried to go on YouTube and kept getting kicked out. Worked fine yesterday.
    Had Firefox last time I had my computer updated, but I lost it when I had to get a new hard drive.
    Does anyone know if you can get Firefox without having to go to a computer repair store and buy it? What I mean is, can you put it in yourself like Adobe Flash?

    Firefox performs consistently well for me. I am on a Mac, but FF worked best on my PC too. I wonder what symptoms you are suffering Father Z.
    I have very few add-ons and Plug-ins. Perhaps going through your list and deleting most of them from your Firefox would help? Also, I empty the cache frequently.

    I love Firefox’s Ad Block. It keeps most ads away, such as on Facebook, or those irritating wiggly ones on websites, also it suppresses the ads on Ustream so my view of your z-cam is peaceful.
