7 Dec: St Ambrose of Milan –

Today is the feast of St. Ambrose, who seemed to bring out both the worst and the best in people.

I am happy to have the company of Ambrose in a special way.  I have a first class relic of the great saint and doctor in the chapel:

Ask St. Ambrose today to intercede before God’s throne am implore graces for the recovery of pro-abortion catholic politicians and for strength for the bishops who must deal with them.

How do you think St. Ambrose would have dealt with, say, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi?

“How do you think St. Ambrose would have dealt with, say, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi?”

Probably the same way he dealt with the Emperor Theodosius, by denying her the Sacraments,
or even entry into a church, until she repented and did public penance.

    Clinton: I second that!
Would that our Bishops imitate St. Ambrose in his no-nonsense way!

It’s it enlightening to hear that saints could act like anyone else and not go through life as if they were posing for holy cards. In the long run saint are ordinary people who do things extraordinarily well.

Does anyone have any information as to where where I may be able to purchase a DVD of the Ambrosian (Milanese) Rite of Mass being celebrated?

  4. AnAmericanMother says:

He would have treated ‘em like this:

Robert the Pious gets what’s coming to him

  5. irishgirl says:

An American Mother: oooo, that’s a good one!
    ‘Bell, book and candle’, anyone?

  6. Supertradmum says:

St. Nicholas slapped Arius at the Great Council of Nicaea http://www.stnicholascenter.org/pages/bishop-nicholas-loses-his-cool/

But then, a man cannot slap a woman, really, however one would be tempted….

December 7, feast of St. Ambrose of Milan.
Opening night, Teatro alla Scala, Milano!
I know the liturgical year begins with the first Sunday of Advent.
The opera year begins December 7th!!!

  8. BV says:

Supertradmum: Nice! (Not quite jolly, eh?)

There is so much people don’t know about St. Nicholas… I’ve always had an interest in him since he is the patron of the parish where I received all my sacraments.

    Fr. Z.

One day you should do a profile post on all the relics you have and how you got possession of them. I find it fascinating every time you show one that you’ve got.

If Theodosius was only threatened with excommunication for the slaughter of 7,000 innocents, then her highness, empress pelosi, would have surely been banned from the sacraments altogether.
These hypocrites who profess a Catholic faith; they make me sick! Sick, I tell ya!
