NEW WDTPRS MUG!: “Lockstep sheep and papist throwbacks”

You may recall that a nitwit at HuffPo called those who support the new, corrected translation “lockstep sheep and papist throwbacks”.   Some people clamored for a coffee mug with that phrase.

I have obliged!  I wanted to see one, physically hold it in my hand and examine it before posting the link to the store.

CafePress now lets you order and pay via your Amazon account.

I have the first being shipped to me as we speak.

Here is an image from the Cafepress store… which looked a little fuzzy to me.. which is why I wanted to see one.  This is the regular coffee mug.

Details of the images I used.

The sheep are from a very courtly critter in a 6th century mosaic in the Basilica of Sts. Cosmas and Damian in Rome.  When lined up like this, they have the added advantage of looking as if they are goosestepping.

Top right corner.

Lower left corner.

The whole thing:

And now the real thing.  Sorry.. my own photo is a little fussy, but the image is nice and clear in person.

This is the large coffee mug.   There is a bit more white above and below on this larger mug… but I like the larger mugs.

I may make a second edition and add some other items… so keep an eye on the store!

Can somebody please explain this to me? I’m very confused… Thanks

I noticed that when placed in front of a mirror, the middle line becomes identical to the top and bottom lines as we see them now. That certainly makes me smile.
Remember all the pseudo psychological garbage suggestions about looking at ourselves each morning in a mirror and repeating ‘affirmations’? “I am an expression of the Divine, perfect and complete just as I am.” beeck! hogwash! How damaging.
Now, imagine a little morning toast toward the mirror holding this cup—and one full of Mystic Monk coffee at that. Ah, now that would be satisfying.

  8. irishgirl says:

That is so cool! You’re gettin’ famous, Father Z!
    [grinning, then ducking]

It could even be popular with people who are really into irony.

  11. mike cliffson says:

if it’s not a misuse(?) “Gaudete”!
Anyhow, that’s what I feel like singing.
    Good on yer, Father! Attaboy!
FWIW would them be the breed of sheep as which there are very similar breeds of goat, stoatally different even if not weaselly distinguishable?Kinda cute .

  12. SonofMonica says:

Father, as promised, I have ordered a large mug. Thanks!

  13. aspiringpoet says:

I like it. One thing: in the middle of the bottom line, there’s a place where the writing looks different to me. Instead of “lockstep sheep” it almost looks like “father is sheep.” I’m not sure if this is a misprint or if I’m hallucinating, or if Father Z is trying to send us all a subliminal message. Anyone else see what I’m talking about?

  14. aspiringpoet says:

Oh, does it say “father z’s sheep”? It IS a subliminal message!

  15. AnAmericanMother says:

    aspiring poet,
I saw that too and mentioned it a comment on the first post.
Yup, now that I look at it again, it’s “Father z’s sheep” in that funny Fraktur script.
You saw deeper than I did!!!!! :-D

  16. AnAmericanMother says:

    And mug ordered as promised.

  19. Trad Catholic Girl says:

    Fr Z,

I like the lockstep sheep (very cool in a quirky kind of way) and would get a travel mug if you had one available.

  20. ScholaLady says:

Now we need one that says “Catholic Knight Witch Hunter.”

  21. Mariana says:

Travel mug! I’d order one of those, too, if made available!
