Where you are!

From time to time I enjoy looking at the visitors stats to see, more or less, where in the world people are when they visit the blog.

Below are some names of places which could be near where visitors are as they clicked and were looking around. I cut out all the “unknowns” and the vaguer entries such as “Canada”.

Here are the last few minutes: at this time of day I see mostly Europe and the East Coast of the US.

I notice a very eastern pattern.

Although we would be but a speck on the map of a blog as popular as yours, there is a “stable group of the faithful” in the Diocese of Knoxville, which has the smallest percentage of Catholics in the USA, who depend upon your work as we maintain, reform and spread the Faith here. Being Catholic in East Tennessee is an intense experience, so that we produce such varied Catholics as Amy Welborn and, yes, U.S. Catholic editor Bryan Cones. Thank the Lord for EWTN and WDTPRS!

Glad to see your influence reaches Braintree where the Archdiocese of Boston’s offices are located.

Kalamazoo, MI, is where I hang out these days. Thank you for both your serious and amusing posts, Father Z. You are remembered in my prayers at every Mass I attend. (Try to go daily–many opportunities here–but don’t always make it.)

  7. JacobWall says:

I think I made onto the list with “Waterloo, Ontario!” You said you delete the vaguer entries like “Canada” – are those generated by the internet, or by the user’s profile information?

  8. APX says:

    @JacobWell

I would imagine location is determined by IP address, as I’ve noticed if I post from my cell, it says I’m in Brandon Ontario, and it changes which ever city/province/state/country I’m in. (I’m pretty transient).

  9. Andreas says:

Wishing you a Blessed Advent from Pinswang, Austria!

  21. I check your blog daily. How come El Dorado Ark. never appears in your list. I feel left out, but I’ll offer it up as an Advent penance, just so ya know.

  26. BV says:

I wonder if the eastern pattern, as APX stated, can in any way correlate to the fact all of the ecclesiastical provinces in the US have moved Ascension Thursday to the following Sunday, except for Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and the state of Nebraska. All in the northeast… (and then Nebraska). Reading that comment made me think of Ascension.

Grove City, OH. And I was supposed to be near Jasper, IN this weekend for an oblate retreat at St. Meinrad but cancelled. Not up to it. Wave to them for me please.

  35. Adam Welp says:

@MSM and Banjo Girl…Be still my beating heart! I never thought anyone on here even knew my hometown even existed! @MSM, if you are still in Jasper this weekend I will be in town visiting my parents and in-laws, it’s too bad we don’t have our own WDTPRS handshake or wave to identify ourselves to other fellow readers! Oh, and some of you might like to know that Jasper is also the hometown of Indianapolis’s beloved Emeritus Archbishop Buechlein!

    Adam

  36. Mary-Kathleen says:

On the overnight shift in Rochester, New York! Greetings to one and all.

  37. APX says:

    @BV

I think it has more to do with time zone. I’m in Western Canada right now, and its was 0600-something or other when I posted that, which would mean it was 0800-something or other in Eastern Canada. I remember the summer living in Ontario and I used to get calls at around 0100 from my parents in Western Canada who could never remember the time zone difference.

Personally, I am amazed that Regina is on that list. I’m even more shocked that it’s on there twice.

  38. Peter G says:

It is 11.40pm on a balmy Friday night here in Melbourne Australia.
It has been hot and suuny for the last 3 days with more of the same tomorrow.
Gaudete Sunday wiil be a bit cooler.
    I love summer!

  39. Midwest St. Michael says:

    Adam,

Too bad you missed the mission last week with Fr. Larry Richards at St. Joe parish!

I cannot think of another priest that could have dropped that kind of Holy Spirit bomb besides our gracious host. (1400 souls attended all four nights!)

Tell you what – I’ll *try* (I live 15+ minutes away and we have several kids) to get to the Sacrifice of the Mass tomorrow morning at St. Joe (8 AM). Look for a tall guy – long nose – with a Marine type hair-cut with an orange Wheaties throw-back T-shirt on.

If you attend come up after Holy Mass and introduce yourself. I’d be happy to chat with you and introduce myself to you. (outside of course, they pray the Holy Rosary right after Holy Mass).

    God love you,
    MSM

  40. irishgirl says:

Yay! I finally saw my hometown of Utica, NY in the ‘updated list’!
Thanks, Father Z! I keep hoping that you’ll make it to Upstate NY sometime….perhaps to Auriesville Shrine?
And with Mother Marianne Cope as the newest US Saint come next year, I’d love to have you come and visit her shrine in Syracuse! Plus our Perpetual Adoration Chapel in her home parish in Utica!

  41. Veronica says:

    Saying hello from Cheraw, SC!

  42. John Murray says:

    Greetings from Memphis, Tennessee!

  43. CarismaTeaCo says:

    Hello from Milwaukee, Wisconsin
