I get zillions of requests from people to give them free advertising here.
FYI… I will be accepting a few paid ads – at my discretion – for the sidebar. I’ll use a CPM formula, for a month or portion, based on my page impressions. Gotta do it, I’m afraid.
I also want to help some groups as best I can. For example:
- Priests: Mark on your calendars the upcoming meeting of the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy in Chicago 31 July – 3 August.
- There is another Canon Law conference, for canonists, this year at the Shrine of O.L. of Guadalupe near LaCrosse with Card. Burke. 1-2 August.
- There is also, open to anyone if there are still spots open, Acton University 12-15 June. I should be there this year. Always excellent and the people you meet are fantastic.
- Also, check Buckfast Abbey (a Benedictine Abbey in the UK). They wrote to me today asking for help. They have conferences. I like that they have a workshop on beekeeping! Also, just go to the page and look for the cool little bees flying around on the side bar. Fun! I wish I had some cool bees. I only have a lazy hamster.
HEY! There is also the big LCWR Assembly 7-11 August about “Mystery Unfolding: Leading in the Evolutionary Now”! But I think you have to be invited. Darn.
So, you can add some things. I have the moderation turned on.
You want to experience Latin as the Church’s living language? Come to a retreat in Florida (see the announcement in English on the right side of the page):

Gosh, I will hate to miss that LCWR event!
Evolutionary Now???? I think they must specialize in cryptic titles.
I *love* your hamster…
Fr. Z., you also have a yellow dog don’t you? I have thrown him the ball a couple of times, and given him a bone.
[I had to put Yellow Dog on a separate page. I have a link to him somewhere on the front page of the blog.]
The college campus ministry Saint Paul’s Outreach is holding their School of the New Evangelization from August 3rd to 11th. This is a truly blessed time for college students to grow closer to the Lord and to learn how to share the Gospel with their peers. It was at last years SNE, that I experienced the Lord calling me to a possible religious vocation in a new and deeper way (A brief prayer would be greatly appreciate :) ).

The Most Reverend John Nienstedt is the honorary chair of the Saint Paul’s Outreach board of directors.
Thank you Father Z for your powerful witness and ministry, you have my prayers.
I kept bees for many years but my neighbours complained to my local Council that they MIGHT get stung so I was prohibited from keeping them. A great pity. My sons felt secure here because one had to walk in front of the beehives when walking around the house. My sons had no trouble but other people were really afraid and stayed well clear. I got a very great deal of honey from them.
Buckfast Abbey is great!
I have Brother Adam’s book on beekeeping, which is part history and part a how-to.
Parts of it are not very useful in the U.S. (we use different equipment, including hives and frames, than the U.K.) But it’s a very interesting read and I enjoyed it very much.
The Buckfast Hybrid Bee is perfectly suited to conditions at Buckfast and in the northern U.S. – one of its great characteristics is the combination of docility and honey production (usually you get one or the other but not both) . . . but here in the South it doesn’t like the heat and humidity. Some queen breeders in the South have outcrossed the Buckfast bee with other strains that tolerate the heat better. I just stick to Italians and put up with getting less honey – they are not hard workers but they are very good-natured, gentle bees.
JARay,
That is really too bad. I make sure to give my neighbors nice big jars of honey at Christmas – that seems to keep complaints to a minimum.
I still think you should try as speaker at LCWR – or offer.
The Latin Mass Society in England are holding a one-day conference on 9th June. I believe Fr Z. is scheduled to speak at it (as well as Fr Tim Finigan and some others).
http://www.lms.org.uk/news-and-events/events-calendar#lms-conference
It’s open to non-members.
Buckfast Abbey are hosting a 5 day study week for young people (18 – 35-ish, it’s mainly people in their early-mid 20s but I’m one of the older ones) run by Dominican friars and sisters. It’s a variety of lectures on different areas of Catholic theology based on the Summa, plus prayer (LOTH and Mass) and social time and lovely Devon countryside. 25th-29th June.

I have been considering adding some Buckfast queens to my apiary. Maybe next spring is the time to finally do it.
I know this is a ways off, but thanks, Fr. Z for a chance to mention it now. I’m part of the organizing committee for a conference on the life and spirituality of Pope John Paul I for the centenary of his birth to be held on on October 12-13 in Queens NY. We want to take this forgotten Pope back from the conspiracy theorists of this world.

Sigh-demon-possessed touchpd strikes again! My apologies and here’s the complete version:

I know this is early, but we need to have money coming in in advance to help bring 3 speakers over from Italy – including the Pope’s niece Pia and the author of the Positio for his cause, Stefania Falasca — and one from England. So I am hoping people will register as soon as possible. Thanks.
NOTA BENE:
The CONFRATERNITY OF CATHOLIC CLERGY in the USA (CCC) is united with our brethren in Australia (ACCC) and in Great Britain (CCCB). Combined, we are over 1,000 priests and deacons who proudly proclaim our allegiance and obedience to the Magisterium and the Roman Pontiff. Please pray for us and encourage your parish clergy to join and/or attend our annual conferences especially our quinquennial pilgrimage to Rome. The press gives much attention to the very vocal but small minority of heterodox and dissident clergy. The faithful need to know there are plenty of solid priests and deacons who want and demand orthodox doctrine and reverent worship.

Seems interesting, although I don’t think I can go.
Christ Our Life Catholic Conference. Des Moines, IA Sept. 21-23. See http://www.christourlifeiowa.com. Great list of speakers and Cardinal Wuerl will preside at closing mass.
This coming Friday June 1st is the opening for “For Greater Glory”. I can’t say enough about this movie. I got a sneak preview May 17th thanks to the Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Radio, it is one of the best movies I have seen.
Everyone stood up and clapped at the end along with a lot of tears(bring lots of tissues).
Please tell everyone to see this wonderful movie.

Just want to say the the Familia Sancte Hieronymus Conference is a great deal money-wise and a fabulous experience. I went back in 1995 down in Mexico City. It’s amazing.
