I recently travelled on US between two extremely large men; I was buried in their sweaty arm-pits. That is a new kind of hell!
I love it. Ear plugs to drown out everyone around you, the rosary and the Divine Office… Absolute bliss.
Interesting, Marknelza. I tend to compare flying with the rack, if not some reflection of purgatory.
I guess it matters a lot if you fit in the chair, can actually sleep with the noise (or focus on anything while awake, earplugs or not) and manage to eat an airplane meal without something ending up on your clothes.
[if you guess these three consitions don’t apply to me, you guessed right]

Bose noise cancelling headphones are the way to go while flying. Father Z perhaps they should be on your wishlist, if they are not already.

A little bit off topic: I got a postcard from my dear priest-friend in England (he was ordained thirty years ago TODAY by Blessed Pope John Paul II). He was really ‘stunned’ [his word] about my change of address [and all that went with it]. And then he said that he was here in the USA on ‘a very hastily-arranged trip’ [again, his words]! I won’t know the details until I get the rest of my mail tomorrow-I had it held at the post office from late April and all through May because I had no idea where my new address would be!
But my friend was over here in the States, and I didn’t know it!

Yeah, Boise noise canceling, a few shots, and an aisle seat, in first class, preferably. That is the only–the only–way to travel these days, especially after you’ve been told to take your shoes off, your body probed, etc.!
