Yet another Chinese food post!

I went to a great Chinese restaurant recently and they gave me crabs!

Soft-shelled crabs, of course.

They were both crunchy and soft at the same time. Sometimes they are prepared with Five Spice. These were heavy on the garlic.

There was also a nice platter of seafood stir-fried with asparagus.

Pea tips.

I read that softshell crabs are the whole crab when the shell is soft in Spring. I assume they are, um, cleaned of the yucky stuff inside.

The last one’s so true, unless one gets overly political.

Not this time. Nope. These pics don’t hold a candle to the pot of chili and Italian meatballs (19 of them) that I made tonight. Yeah. I know. I didn’t intend to eat them together and really have explanation for why I made them both on the same night–and spaghetti sauce as well! My fortune cookie (the imaginary one) read, “You express yourself with tomato sauce.”
