Your Urgent Prayer Requests

I get so many requests by email asking for prayers for personal petitions or for other people. Some times these requests are heart-achingly grave and urgent.

We are not in this life alone, on our own. We are connected through our humanity and our membership in Holy Church. We should support each other in works of mercy.

As long as my blog reaches so many readers in so many places, let’s give each other a hand.

If you have some prayer requests, feel free to post them below. Do you have to be registered here to have posting privileges.

Take a moment to pray for others about whom you read here.

  7. Will D. says:

My home town of Colorado Springs, CO, has been impacted by a wildfire. Initial estimates are that 300 homes have been lost. Thanks be to God, however, there have been no injuries or fatalities.

Please pray for the firefighters, the evacuees, and for beneficial rain.

Also, if you are able, please consider a donation to Catholic Charities of Central Colorado who are feeding the evacuees and providing other services.

  8. Liz says:

Mine is a special intention that really needs prayers, but I am not at liberty to talk about. Thank you.

I’m praying for you all and those who will still post.

    Geeklady, I’m so sorry.

  9. DavidJ says:

My two year old son is beginning a barrage of medical tests to see if we can rule out a ton of reasons for his autistic-like behavior and developmental delays. He’s already faced many health problems, and this involves more tests. We’d love to find out a simple and treatable reason for his issues, but barring that, we pray for an accurate diagnosis and a path forward. If God wants to fix him miraculously, we’re cool with that too!

  10. Andy Milam says:

To all who have requested prayers, done.

I would please ask for prayers for the repose of the soul of Dan McClannahan. He was a family friend and a mentor to me while I was growing up. He died unexpectedly last week and was laid to rest a week ago, Monday. He was a God-fearing man, but not Catholic.

    Gratias.

  11. aragonjohn7 says:

For my friend Johnny, for miles Christi priests, for one of my deceased friends c.j, for my crazy grandma, for the dying and those not prayed for often.

    Shalom

  12. tealady24 says:

Prayers for everyone who posts here. May our Blessed Mother hurry these to her Son.

My d-i-l’s sister who is 32, is in the midst of what is known as PML disease, brought on by an MS drug called Tysabri. It is a rare brain disease, usually fatal within months, and she is in her 4th month battling this. Very few people in the entire population have this, and with her it has gone from bad to worse. Doctors keep trying added treatments, but so far nothing is working.

  13. acardnal says:

Please pray for newly ordained Catholic priest Rev. Randy Sly of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. Fr. Sly is a former Episcopal priest who converted to Catholicism. After some years as a layman, he took advantage of the Holy Father’s initiative to Anglicans and was duly ordained as a Catholic priest on June 23.

To all those who posted their prayer requests before me and those who will do so after my request: I’ll pray for all your intentions at Vespers tonight.

Please pray for me as I’m having an exam tomorrow.

  18. Suburbanbanshee says:

Please pray for my sister-in-law, whose MS is getting worse; for my cousin who’s serving in Afghanistan; and for my grandmothers, who are both having a rough week.

Also, if you could pray for me to find a full-time job, it would be appreciated. It’s been more than six months now. I know it’s not much, compared to other people here.

  19. mamajen says:

A friend of mine recently lost her 4-day-old baby boy, Angelo, unexpectedly. He had been the picture of health, but it turned out he had an undiscovered heart abnormality, and he died suddenly. In addition to his parents, he left behind a brother and a sister. It is so heartbreaking seeing them go from excitement and joy to unimaginable loss. If you could say a prayer for his family’s healing, I would appreciate it. He will have a Catholic funeral tomorrow.

  20. sawdustmick says:

I am off to Mass shortly. I will take all these intentions with me. Please pray for the (continual) conversion of three People.

    Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

  21. Fr. Andrew says:

Tonight I begin directing the 30 Day Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Pray for our 1 priest, 1 deacon, 2 nuns (habited), and 16 seminarians undergoing the exercises as well as our 5 priest directors (myself included).

    Prayed for you all.

  22. MarkA says:

My prayers for the intentions of everyone who has posted on this thread and all who will post on this thread. May I humbly ask for prayers that I get a job to support my wife and son, fulfill my duties as husband and father, and live my life to glorify God as blessed Saint Joseph (my beloved guardian) did.

May our Beloved Mother, Blessed Virgin Mary, deliver our prayers to Her Beloved, Divine Son and may He graciously hear us.

  23. george says:

My cousin’s son, about 14yrs. old, has been stricken with a brain tumor. They operated once before and got what they hoped was all of it. It has recurred/regrown. The doctors are very apprehensive about surgery, Trent (the boy) said he won’t do another brain surgery and he will accept God’s will for him. He’s very quickly come to the point where he cannot walk nor talk and he can barely swallow. I’ve been praying for a miraculous cure if God wills it, or immense grace for Trent and his family as they endure this suffering. I ask for your prayers for them, also.

  24. Supertradmum says:

For all the intentions here, I pray-especially for GeekLady and the sick children. And, for myself, please pray for a miracle of citizenship. Every six months, I have to leave Britain and go elsewhere because of visa restrictions. I do not qualify for any category, despite being a mom of a British Citizen. This moving interrupts my work, costs money, and is tiring. Thank you for your prayers.

Father Z, special prayers for you.

  25. Dies Irae says:

Prayers for all of your requests.
Please pray for an elderly man from my church who passed away on Tuesday. Also, for an acquaintance’s co-worker, who found out she had terminal cancer a month ago, as well as three spinal tumors and a brain tumor. Please pray for the repose of her soul, she passed away on Tuesday as well. Please also pray for her children as she was a single mother three children. Also for a little girl I know who had a brain tumor, her surgery was unable to completely remove it, please pray that it will no longer cause her problems.

  26. Supertradmum says:

I have an intention for the Sisters of Walsingham, a small order of nuns who came over in the Ordinariate and believe they have a vocation to the Catholic pilgrims in Walsingham. They need a house and one is for sale for 440,000 pounds which would suit them.

Please pray they get a benefactor.

  27. thefeds says:

There is a young Deacon, Derrick Oliviera, newly home from the NAC in Rome, who is being ordained in Oakland tomorrow evening. Understandably, his mom had been looking forward to attending. Unfortunately, she came down with pneumonia, and has further complications that prevent her from being present. Please pray for the health of Mrs. Oliviera, and for Deacon Derrick as he he begins his priestly ministry!

  28. Supertradmum says:

I better clarify that they are not the Anglican sisters, but the Ordinariate ones. From the site;Three former Sisters of the Society of St Margaret in Walsingham were received into the full communion of the Catholic Church on 1 January 2011 at Westminster Cathedral. By the establishment of a new congregation, the Sisters aspire to continue living the spirit and charism of their founder John Mason Neale, as an expression of the rich spiritual patrimony that arose from the pastoral, theological, spiritual and liturgical renewal which grew out of the Oxford Movement.

Here is a contact address: enquiries@ordinariate.org.uk

  29. Acreades says:

For a job. I have been out of work for 1 and a half years now.

For the United States of America, to more wholly conform to a morally just republic.

I have and will continue praying for the other requests here.

  30. thefeds says:

I neglected to say that I am praying and will continue to pray for all these intentions as well.

  31. Stvsmith2009 says:

Please pray for my financial situation. My work hours have been drastically cut, and the last 6 months have been a struggle. Please also pray for my eyesight, as I have cataracts and no health insurance from work. Thank you and God bless you all!

  32. Dies Irae says:

Also, for a lady who recently delivered her second stillborn, she was 34 weeks along with no complications. Please pray for her, her husband, and their children.

  33. The Sicilian Woman says:

My confirmation sponsor’s daughter, M., and her husband, D., lost their daughter last week. The baby was full-term and stillborn. There’s no apparent cause of death yet. This heartbreak comes after their enduring 5 years of infertility, including a miscarriage a couple years ago. They and their families are devastated.

Also, I am looking for employment to get back near my family, over 2000 miles away, and would appreciate any prayers towards that end, and towards some health struggles I am facing.

I will include all of the intentions here in my prayers.

  34. Kypapist says:

Please pray that a Jesuit priest will be found to continue the only 6:00 a.m. Mass in the area. This early Mass has been offered for workers and commuters for over 100 years in Downtown Cincinnati.
I will take all these petitions and all future intentions on this “Z-List” to All-Night Adoration at Old
    St. Mary’s tomorrow night.

  35. dahveed says:

I’ve prayed for you kind people, and will do so some more this evening, happily. May I ask your prayers for my cousin Joanna, whose bout with cancer is nearing it’s end, and prayers, please, for her family (great husband and four great and grown kids). Thank you all.

  36. kab63 says:

Your prayer requests are so moving. You have my prayers and my tears, which come easily lately.

My brother passed a week ago; the probable cause is suicide. Please remember his soul, if you would.

  37. Marius2k4 says:

After reading a lot of these, I feel rather sheepish in asking this, but my wife and I are in the process of buying our first house, with the help of our in-laws. We desperately need the room, and it involves moving cities, but it will be our final destination as that’s where we will eventually work for her folks.

I ask that everyone pray that everything works out well with this wonderful house we’ve found, that we all come to amicable terms and are able to close, and that we then have a safe journey five hours north as we move from Houston to Dallas. I ask everyone to pray that my current job affords me the same deal they’ve given others, in being able to work remotely for a year with full pay and benefits, while I prepare to work for my in-laws at their business. We need it for the insurance, as my wife and I are trying to have a second baby.

I also ask for the conversion of my father, who was raised protestant. He has mellowed a lot in the recent past after my conversion and my having talked my mom into validating her marriage and therefore coming back into the Church and then sponsoring my brother through RCIA, and I pray that God speaks to his heart with a special grace of conversion. Overcoming inertia is the largest remaining obstacle, I think.

  38. Servant of the Liturgy says:

Selfishly, for myself, to find and understand God’s will in my life.

For Bishop H, who is ill.

    For a newly ordained priest.

For my mother, who is looking for work.

For the protection & perseverance of our Armed Forces.

    For an increase in vocations.

For the defense of our Constitution, and for it’s prevail.

  39. Marius2k4 says:

I’m praying for all of you. May Our Lord Jesus Christ hear our humble supplications, and grant our prayers in his infinite mercy.

  40. Sandy says:

Praying for all of you as I read all your needs through my tears for you. May Mother Mary take them all as a bouquet of flowers to Her Beloved Son. Geek Lady, my mother used to pray to St. Gerard. May he give you a miracle.

I would like to ask prayers for my husband’s heart to be healed and that the Lord would take my mother to a safe place, as she should not be living alone and will not listen to me.

Jesus and Mary help us all!

  41. amandabuchan says:

Please pray for my mum – My dad (67) had a stroke and then 3 days later died suddenly in Feb and my grandad ( her dad ) aged 98 died only six weeks before Jan
Its all been such a massive shock and my mum has multiple sclerosis and is relying at the moment on prayer as we muddle through trying to cope
also we have a new priest appointed to our parish- he is finishing his studies in Rome at the moment so I pray for him and our old priest

  42. NoTambourines says:

I’m so grateful for this posting. I’ll remember all of the intentions posted here as I pray my Rosary tonight.

    My prayer requests:
For better working conditions for a relative and her husband.
For all of the fallen-away Catholics in my family to come home.
For the conversion of several friends and acquaintances.
For a friend’s daughter who is considering a career change and/or going back to school.
For several people I know who are battling cancer.
For persecuted Christians and for the conversion of those who persecute them.
For me, for an ongoing health issue.

  43. pawelthegreat says:

That my father find a job to support me and my three brothers.

    God bless us all.

  44. discipulus says:

Please pray for an elderly lady we know from our local Ruthenian Catholic Outreach, who is in the hospital suffering from age-related health problems. After visiting her at the hospital with my dad and a priest, I do fear that death could be near.

Prayers going out to all those who have posted their requests.

  45. Chris Garton-Zavesky says:

For a whole bucketful of what I’m going to characterise as special intentions, because I can’t bear to write them down.

Please pray for the intercession of

    The Infant of Prague
    St. Monica
    St. Joseph
    St. Isidore
St Thomas More & St. John Fisher
    St Rita
    St. Jude

I will pray for the intentions here abouts….

  46. Angie Mcs says:

Father Zuhlsdorf, we need and love you. I am sure you are not told that as often as you deserve. A special prayer to St Michael for you.

So many of us need each other. May our prayers give comfort and peace to us all.

  47. Supertradmum says:

    GeekLady, Mass coming your way

  48. chantgirl says:

I am the confirmation sponsor of a relative who is now a commuinications director for the ACLU- nuff said. Please pray for this woman’s conversion and for baptism for her son.

Please pray for a priest in the family who will celebrate his 25th ordination next year.

Please pray for my Godfather, Doug. He has had countless health problems, his first son died as a baby from heart problems, his father commited suicide, and his wife just died of cancer in her 50s. They were Christians once upon a time, but were so beaten up by life they stopped going to church.

I think it’s safe to say that we all have fallen-away Catholics among our friends and family, Lord. Mercy and grace, we beg!

  49. aviva meriam says:

You all have my tears and my prayers.

Please pray for our country: that we rededicate ourselves to the causes of Life and Liberty.

I ask that you remember three special intentions of mine.

  50. NoraLee9 says:

I will get on the beads tonight for all of you. Please pray for my nephew Mason G. His wife left him very abruptly and took their 3-year old with her. Also please pray that he finds the Catholic Faith. That’s a story too long for this forum. Please pray for my husband’s aunt Arlette. She has had a stroke and is hospitalized. Her husband is an atheist and it is impacting the care she receives.

  51. RMT says:

I have a special intention that I ask for prayers for. My prayers for all who have posted and will post here.

  52. lmo1968 says:

Please pray that I find a job that will pay enough to sustain me and cover my bills. I also ask for prayers for an upcoming surgery, that it will go well, and I be healed, and that a relationship I am in leads to marriage.

  53. mtmajor says:

In the scheme of our troubles, mine don’t hold a candle. But I need work, any work, to pay my rent and make car and insurance payments this month. We feel such a feeling of panic that our prayers don’t seem to remedy, and we don’t want anything other than to help ourselves. Please remember my wife and I in your prayers.

  54. Captain Peabody says:

A close friend of the family is several months pregnant, and her child has just been diagnosed with Trisomy 18, a genetic disorder that leads to stillbirth in many cases, and a median life expectancy of less than fifteen days for those that are born. Prayer would be greatly appreciated, especially through the intercession of Our Lady and St. Gianna Molli.

  55. Some major personal issues that I’m going through

  56. bernadette says:

Please pray for me as I am en route moving across country. In the past eighteen months I have experienced the death of my spouse and many other issues along with extreme anxiety to the point of damaging my health. Pray for me that I will leave the anxiety behind me and find good Catholic friends like the ones I have left behind.

  57. AnnAsher says:

May God the Father of Mercies look kindly on you all, gravy you all your requests and fill you with His love. I will continue to pray for you and those to come.
Geek Lady – my heart goes out to you dear sister.
DavidJ- my son was diagnosed with autism at age 3. Today at age 7 people can scarcely notice. His health takes management but he is good. If your son is not on a daily good probiotic, I strongly suggest you start one. Two books : The Myth of Autism and The Complete Guide to Aspergers Syndrome. They will be helpful regardless of the diagnosis. God’s blessing be upon you!
Our family is financially strained. Please pray for us to know and follow Gods will and to be able to provide for our kids. Please pray for my health and my sons continuing recovery. Please pray for my oldest son’s need of direction for his life. He feels like he is in limbo. Everytime he begins to get excited about a missionary opportunity he learns he has to be 21 and it’s discouraging.
    Please

  58. chcrix says:

I have scrolled through the comments and taken a moment and offered an individual prayer for each specific entry through AnnAsher at 9:38.

There is a complex personal intention that I have been praying for over a period of four years. If you have a moment, please join your prayer to mine.

  59. Kenneth Jones says:

    JMJ
    Dear readers,

Pending the results of one final test I will be under the knife for thyroid cancer within a few days.
For anyone anticipating inpatient care as I am, consider these patrons from the list at American Catholic dot org.

    Hospitals –
    St. John of God
    St. Camillus de Lellis

    St. Luke
    Anesthetists –
    St. Rene Goupil

    Our Lady of Lourdes
    Cancer patients –
    St. Peregrine Laziosi

Mary, Most Holy, we fly to your patronage. Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, sancta Dei Genetrix; nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus nostris, sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper, Virgo gloriosa et benedicta.

All the Saints in Heaven, and these especially, pray for us.

  60. Nora says:

I am a widow with a teen daughter; I have cancer and seek your prayers for a sufficiently smooth course of treatment not to traumatize her as well as for healing. A young man, Kevin, in our parish has inoperable;e brain cancer; has has 6 young children and a wife, who has never worked outside the home. Please pray for them to all be supported with the prayers and temporal assistance they need, as well as for a miraculous healing.

  61. Anne M. says:

Please pray for my 16 yr old niece who has just reported her stepfather for sexual abuse. Her mother is taking the stepfather’s side. Social Services has initially told my niece she will have to return to her mother. She is safe with her grandparents for the moment. She wants to live with me and I would be overjoyed to have her. She’s a wonderful girl.

Please pray for my husband that he be converted to the Faith.

I have included everyone on the list in my prayers.

  62. Supertradmum says:

Praying for all. And for GeekLady, I have started a prayer chain in London for you and your husband. As I do not know your name and people have asked, I have given you the nickname of “Georgia”. Hope you do not mind.

As to all those with cancer, as a cancer survivor, you are especially in my prayers today, and for those with thyroid problems, as I do not have a thyroid at all, because of disease, I shall pray for you as well. I can join with you in all your anxieties and sufferings. I shall pray especially to St. Therese, the Little Flower for you all.

  63. Supertradmum says:

AnneM, coming from a family with four sex abuse victims (by priest) in it (not myself, but others), I add you to my prayers today for your niece. Be assured that people can be healed and have good lives, even after abuse. In all things, God is good and wants us to be whole.

  64. irishgirl says:

Reading all of these prayer requests through my tears. I’ve sent up an Ave for all of them, asking Our Lady to place them before her Son. Thank you for letting us post them, Father Z-as Angie Mcs said, ‘we love you and we need you’….’fer sure’!
It was heartbreaking to read particularly of those who have lost parents, children and other loved ones due to cancer and other diseases.
Geek Lady, I’m sorry to hear of your fears of miscarriage.
Jack Hughes, I pray that you will find a place for your religious vocation.
Supertradmum, I hope that your visa difficulties will be resolved (and I’m a cancer survivor too, dear sister).
Mamajen, I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend’s baby (hugs from a fellow Upstate New Yorker!).
    My prayer requests are:
I just heard that the Monsignor who was our long-time ‘family priest’ (he baptized me and my two sisters, and obtained an annulment for my parents so they could finally receive the sacraments-my mother was married briefly before she met my father) is not doing too well. He’s in his nineties and has health problems for a number of years.
I’m still so totally sick over the Supreme Court decision of yesterday on ObamaTax (good one, Father Z!). Pray that the voters of our country will turn out Obama at the polls this November, and we can get this thing repealed.
I’m struggling financially myself. I lost my childhood home in late April due to the property taxes, and was living for a time in a homeless shelter. I have begun jumping through the social services ‘hoops’, and am now living in a subsidized apartment. I have the public assistance, the food stamps and the Medicaid, but I’m still scared over what the future will hold for me; I’m very depressed at times.

  65. Angie Mcs says:

Please pray for my daughter. She has been home with us for a year now after college and cant get work, has fallen into a depression over this and other things, , made poor choices about her life in general. Every week after mass I go to the Blessed Mother and pray to her, so i can be the mother my own child needs, for Mary to watch over her and help her get on the right path. But my daughter needs your prayers. And so do I. It’s painful to watch her go through this. Thank you.

  66. Tim says:

Please pray for my mother Mary, approaching the end of her earthly life, and for my father Glan that he may find comfort when he loses his spouse of 59 years. Sancta Dei Genetrix, intercede pro nobis.

  67. Friend in rehab, coming out of an amarital situation.

  68. Angie Mcs says:

As Sandy said, I also pray for you all as I read your needs through my tears for you.It will be a very heartfelt and special day for me as I think and pray for you all. And As I humbly approach the altar after mass, you will all be with me.

Thank you, FAther Z, for helping us reach out to each other.

  69. bernadette says:

I will pray for all your intentions when I pray my Rosary and I have already prayed for all the intentions here this morning.
I have one more request for prayer for my daughter. She along with my entire family have left the Church. We were discussing abortion this morning and she thinks that it is a good thing because it is cheaper to abort than to raise unwanted children. These are her thoughts after Catholic schooling kindergarten through college.

  70. I thought quite a few would use this entry.

Perhaps this should be a weekly offering.

  71. Sissy says:

Great idea! I have read each posting and prayed over each. Thank you, Fr. Z. (I’m praying for you, as well).

  72. poorlady says:

Please pray for me concerning my job situation. I have just graduated from college, and am wondering if I will be able to keep my present job when I ask to have the company insurance removed. I am already quite poor. God bless you all, and you Father Z! I will be praying for you all, too.

  73. poorlady says:

Please also pray for a friend of mine, Diane, who has fully metastasized cancer and may have only a short time to live. She wants to be healed. She has been in great pain for almost two years now.

Also please pray for my dad and brother that they will return to the Church.
    Thank you. God bless.

  74. carolg says:

    To all ,
Please pray for the soul of my sister Judy, who passed away this evening. Thank you.
I will continue to pray for all as always.

  75. Noelle says:

Please pray for our situation, as my husband is showing great signs of repentance and reconciliation after abandoning, in every way except financially, my son and me for more than two years. He now says he is astounded that I could forgive him. We both want to start over.

I am praying for you all, especially DavidJ’s son, for George’s relative Trent, and for Steve Smith for your vision. Bless you, Father Z!
