Atlas = Atlante = Atlanta

I am, as it turns out, remaining over night in Atlanta. Fatigue is setting in, of course. And I am waiting for a shuttle. Just what I want to be doing.

oh well

Did you know that the Italian word for “atlas” is “atlante”?

UPDATE:

I am back at the airport for the final leg.

The hotel… how do I put this.

I have been in worse, but this one was to Microtel as Mictrotel is to the Ritz-Carlton.

You’re in my neighborhood… almost. You’re SW of the city, I’m NE. I hope your wait is not long.

  2. benedetta says:

Sorry to hear that Fr. Z.

  3. Nora says:

So sorry! Atlanta isn’t a bad place to be stranded, with MARTA right there in the airport, but nowhere but home is really good after a long travel day.

    Good place for BBQ ribs.

  5. Katheryn says:

Too bad a reader can’t give you a ride!

  6. TNCath says:

The airlines has likely put you in a Marriott or Sheraton. Shouldn’t be too bad. Hope the bar is open. Leave it to Delta to have either left Rome late or canceled your connecting flight home! Delta isn’t ready when you are!

“Atlante” — Latin for “y’all go ‘head and ‘atlan.”

Just stay in the South, it is better down here. :)

    Blognic in the ATL?

If you’re ever back in town for a period of time, several blog followers around here would love a chance to buy you a meal and bend your ear for a while!

As long as you don’t have to carry the world on your shoulders… though I imagine it may feel that way. Here’s to a speedy return home, Fr. Z.

PS: in case someone misses the reference I’m aiming for in the early AM : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlas_(mythology)

  14. Thanks for the greetings.

Unless you can meet me in the C Gates Delta Lounge within the next hour, a blognic might be hard.

I agree with disco: sitting up in an airport is way better than whatever place an airline will recommend.

Sorry for the bad motel. We were stranded there once and actually put up in a fairly decent place. Meaning quite clean and came with a decent breakfast.

  17. Laura98 says:

Hope the rest of your travels go better Father!

Yep… I remember one Delta flight… Frankfurt to NYC to some USAF Base in Rhode Island to refuel then back to NYC, unscheduled overnight stay then Salt City to Phoenix… Delta put us up in the Marriott at Rockefeller Center, but since we arrived at like 2 am and had to be at the airport again at 6 am, I’m not really sure it was an “overnight” if you know what I mean. LOL

Sorry about the hotel. I thought you’d at least get a decent place to rest. Atlanta is a horrendous place in which to be stranded.
