To the readers – Happy and Holy Christmas! Exchange of greetings

Merry Christmas to all of you readers, near and far!

Whatever is going on in your lives, make this one as simple as you can: thank the Lord for His humble birth as our Savior, tell Him you love Him, and be good to those around you.

I will remember all of you, especially those who have asked for prayers, during Midnight Mass and I will say one of my three Masses for those of you who have been so good to me as benefactors.

I wish you and yours many graces and much happiness for Christmas.

Feel free to chime in with your greetings to each other, as well.

A flu bug suddenly hit our family today and we missed the most beautiful part of the holiday, Midnight Mass at our wonderful parish. I so wanted to be part of the celebration of His birth and clear my mind of all the secular and material preparation. Yet I feel he is with me here as well.

Thank you for your thoughts, Father. I will indeed reach out with a loving thank you to our Lord. I will think of him with love and gratitude as I go to sleep, and reflect on that wonderful night so long ago.

Thank you also, Father, for your wonderful blog, for sharing your wisdom, guidance and humor, as well as to everyone here. I have learned so much, including the fact that one can disagree and still be kind and respectful. Merry Christmas and sincerest prayers for Gods blessings to you all.

Merry Christmas, Father! I also prayed for you at church tonight. Thanks for everything you do!

A few hours ago I was all cranky and overwhelmed and muttering about how mothers should get dispensations for Christmas mass or something…then later I stepped into our beautiful, but humble little church for Midnight Mass and it was so wonderfully decorated and the mass was gloriously beautiful and I was grateful and happy that I got to go! We got to pray near Baby Jesus too. I love that.

    God bless you all!

    Christ is Born! Glorify him!

Thy nativity, O Christ our God,
    has shown the light of wisdom to all the world;
for by it, those who worshiped the stars
were taught by a star to adore Thee
    the Sun of Righteousness,
and to know Thee, the Orient from on high.
    O Lord, glory to Thee.

  29. Cathy says:

Merry Christmas! I made spaghetti for my family on Christmas Eve, my nephews were surprised that I can cook. They said it was good, I had a hard time tasting anything. Saturday, the Archbishop consecrated the new altar at our parish. Deacon John, who is a transitional deacon, ordained in Rome two months ago is home for Christmas. He will be ordained a priest in June, please keep him in your prayers! Sometimes I am so discouraged by the apparent darkness of the times in which we live, then the more awesome and eternal Love and Light of God is made present and conquers it. Pray for conversions!

    Gesegnete Weihnachten, Hochwürden.

  31. cyejbv says:

    Merry Christmas Father Z.
I want to thank you for being a priest, and specifically for the work you do on this blog.

I have a friend who is a ‘public figure’/speaker/ author named is Chris Stefanick; he’s the director of the youth ministry for the archdiocese in Denver, and he posted the below on his FB wall :

    I STAND WITH OUR PRIESTS.

I know priests who have been spit at. Called pedophiles. Told “FU” by strangers for walking in their clerics in public. They get a bad rap from this world – all of them unfairly smeared by a few sickos.
    ….
They’ve given up families of their own to give Jesus to us on Christmas.
When I sin, they’re there to hear my confession.
When I die some day, they’ll be there in the middle of the night praying with my family.
    ….
As St. John Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests, puts it, “The priest continues the work of redemption on earth … If we really understood the priest on earth, we would die not of fright but of love … the Priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus.”
    —————————
Amen I say, and thank you again Fr.Z! God Bless You.
