“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

…. Nothin but net!!!! what a happy kid!!!! I smiled and watched it again. Thanks Father!
I answered no in the poll, mostly for the fun of it. You know he just threw it that way for fun, figuring it wouldn’t matter. On a wing and a prayer! What fun.
Gee-wizz. How fake. That was obviously computer generated. Or trick photography. Or something. Whatever. Where’s my coffee?
The joy of the players! The joy of the camera guy! Never give up! One last try!
This uplifted my down-with-the-flu day!
Happy! happy!
Notice that he’s the big kid — probably not the fastest or most agile guy on the team — probably not the best coordinated on the team —
He’ll be dining out on that wing-and-a-prayer for a long time — good for him!
If that was a game winner then that was a real stomach punch for the red team. Heck of a shot though.
I voted no, but I’m not a joyless person who feels only rage and despair. I seem to not be affected emotionally by worldly things these days. Try sitting in a theatre watching Les Miserables while everyone else is crying and you’re completely emotionless…awkward.
HS b-ball is never far from my mind this time of year…. This morning I put all of hubby’s school’s current stats on their web page, since he is the web master, and is pre-occupied with developing term finals. I have attended many, many b-ball games and have never seen a shot like this one. Absolutely wonderful. This kid has a heck of a guardian angel.
Of course that crazy, successful shot made me smile. But the over-the-top description for choosing No made me smile even more, so I picked it! :)
Fake? How could it be a fake?
I don’t think it’s fake:

It was reported on Huffpo, so it couldn’t possibly be fake:

(I know this might kick me into moderation because of the two links.)
A winner like we seldom see
Except on TV
TV where it’s all made up
Hope is shown to us
By this young pup.
Brick by Brick
Someday it will stick
And all frustration will be washed away
God sends a message of Hope
In a Basketball play.
Voted “Yes” but was soooooo tempted to “No” for the fun of it.
Ordinarily I would say YES……but you saw what happened with the Broncos.
I picked “no” for the very same reason as Margaret. :)
The actual basketball shot was funny-delightful, but your poll question, Father, was just funny-funny! Made me laugh out loud! ( I voted YES though).
Oh — link said his team lost though. Bummer. Now I AM in despair.
(Not really).
Contrarians, begone. If it made you smile, you should have voted YES! Fr didn’t preface the No with ‘For those of you feeling clever and…’ ;)
Best part of the video? The fact that players on both teams were applauding the shot. Sportsmanship is alive and kicking in middle school America. There is hope.
That was totally fake. Achh, I’m so ANGRY at these fake feel-good videos that circulate like a disease on this foul medium, the Internet.
I voted yes, but in truth, I am merely perplexed at the enthusiasm people have for sports like basketball. However, it was an amusing throw and by some luck went in the basket and this clearly made a difference for the score and many people were quite excited and happy about it. I like seeing people happy.
Yet must admit that, alas, I am unmoved by the video itself.
I have to admit I was distracted and dismayed by the blonde girl on the red team. Co-Ed preteen basketball? Not cool.
