Your post got me to thinking, I can count on one hand, I think, the number of outdoor pro-life events I’ve been to where the weather was really nice. Almost all of my pro-life memories are cold and rain.

God didn’t grant my prayer for hailstorms during the Inauguration Parade and the local five-day says 28 and snow for Friday. I guess I need to fast more.
Prayers for good weather and and a hugh turnout.
Praying! We will be driving in for the March with our 6 children. We will be bundled as bundled can be from head to toe! I don’t think it is a coincidence that Roe v. Wade was handed down during this, the coldest part of the year in DC.
Pray also for those of us participating in the West Coast Walk for Life on Saturday. I’m not bragging when I say that probably one third of the Sunday Mass goers at our church will be walking. Okay, it’s a small mission church…
Our parish is sending a busload, though. Lots of young people and families!
I’ll pray for our east coast brothers and sisters.
At the risk of drawing guffaws from the hardier folks at the March, I’d like to request prayers for dry weather in San Francisco for the Walk on Saturday. Yes, I know it won’t be cold, but it may be wet and as much as I’m willing to offer up the discomfort, the memory of the steady downpour in 2010 curdles my enthusiasm juices just a little. Ponchos are advised, I think.
Our forecast in D.C. on Friday is, of course, possibly the first big snow storm of the year. But think of the good photos it will make!
My personal tip: wear three pairs of socks. And go to Saint Mary’s at 5th and H for the 8 a.m. High Mass and 6 p.m. Pontifical High Mass before and after the March. The radiators will be cranked up in the church.
No matter what kind of weather hits D.C., the West Coast and other march venues, how many of us think any lame stream media will be covering it or covering the crowd numbers fairly?
I will pray. It can be bitterly cold on the March. I met my future husband on the bus trip to DC as college freshman 23 years ago, so the event is near & dear to my heart.

Wool socks! REI has some called “Smart Wool” that don’t itch. Pro-life anything in our state is usually cold and/or rainy–which is the same thing, really. These socks are foolproof. (No, I’m not on commission). Their merino wool long underwear is also toasty and non-itchy. I can’t say so much for my felted wool hat, but it is quirkily Chestertonian.
Let’s pray that God will soften the hearts of those who view the march.
Our usually liberal newspaper, largest paper in the state, gave very good coverage to our march for life.
Rosaries will be offered for all of you, participants.
Warm weather (or at least not bitting cold) and that no-one will catch a cold or the flu.

My 14yo son is going with his youth group. Needless to say I am worried about his feet being too cold! I am having a hard time thinking about him spending 24 of the next 48 hours on a bus in bad weather with strangers driving. So I have that to offer up. I am very proud and happy that he is going but my happiest moment will be when he is home safely.
My 15 year old granddaughter and 13 year old grandson are also traveling from Ohio with their youth group. I will be praying for them and all who are able to attend. May God grant them good weather, safe travel, warm fingers and toes and a joyful heart.

My prediction:
This year we will get the news coverage because of the 40th anniversary and they will photograph a few old folks and “unusual characters” and the big crowds – from a distance.
The media will act like the size of the crowd is something new and that the country must either laugh at the out of touch “old grandmothers” or fear us as terrorists.
Have prayed, will pray. God bless each and every one who will be going. Safe travels, warm feet and fingers. I know the hearts will be warm.

There will be a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form, following the Walk for Life West Coast. The Mass will be at the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi, 610 Vallejo St, San Francisco, at 5:00 p.m. after Walk For Life. The Shrine is only about a mile from Justin Herman Plaza, the end of the walk.
The celebrant will be Fr. Francisco Nahoe, OFM Conv. Saint Ann’s Schola of Palo Alto, CA, conducted by Prof William Mahrt of Stanford University, will accompany.
