Today is Ash Wednesday. Lent begins.
In other words GO TO CONFESSION!
Today we begin what St. Pope Leo “the Great” called a sacramentum.

Please pray for me – and for Pope Benedict – as we begin our discipline.

“This blog is rather like a fusion of the Baroque ‘salon’ with its well-tuned harpsichord around which polite society gathered for entertainment and edification and, on the other hand, a Wild West “saloon” with its out-of-tune piano and swinging doors, where everyone has a gun and something to say. Nevertheless, we try to point our discussions back to what it is to be Catholic in this increasingly difficult age, to love God, and how to get to heaven.” - Fr. Z

I am praying for Pope Benedict and the future pope. I also am praying very hard for you and all priests.
We need Saint Michael more than ever, I wish at every Mass they would please pray it again. I asked Cardinal Burke on July 20, 2012 to give a message to Pope Benedict begging him to re-instate this prayer throughout the world, I also gave in a crown of thorns from the hillside I pray on that had turned blood red I didn’t know what it meant at first, I just did what God told me to do.
We need 3 Hail Mary’s along with the St. Michael prayer, because I am sure you know satanic pacts are made in 3′s. Pope Leo XIII knew this that is why he put it in at all low Masses. These powerful prayers need to be brought back NOW there is no more time to waste. One soul lost is one too many.
If you don’t post this or remove it I understand, I will just be glad if you read it. We are in the greatest battle of our lives, for our very soul. Stay humble Fr. Z please, we faithful need you priests more than ever before with what is coming.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes ….and against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms”
~Ephesians 10-12.
Deo adjuvante non timendum
May the power of the Father govern and protect you!
May the wisdom of the Son teach and enlighten you!
May the influence of the Holy Ghost renew and quicken you!
May the blessing of the All-Holy Ghost, be with you, now and for evermore.
Amen!
Fr Z – not sure when you uploaded this in the USA, but it was out in good time for me to listen to it on Ash Wednesday night here in Australia, so thanks for that!
Father, thanks again for this series! I always appreciate your musical selections for these podcazts, some of which are new to me. Would it be possible to list the titles of these tracks when you post each podcazt?
Di – The reason that we do things in threes is that we do them in honor of the Holy Trinity. It’s not as a counter for some small group of people doing creepy things in basements, although they may be doing such things in a feeble attempt to counter God. So fear not! Our Lord is the victor!
That said, it’s not a bad idea to say the St. Michael prayer, etc. It can only help. And as some have pointed out, this is a great time to say novenas to the Holy Spirit.
Fr. Z:
I pray that you will have a fruitful and blessed Lent. I will make my confession today. Thanks for your encouragement.

Thank you Father Z.
Thank you for the LentcaZts, Father. I have my teenagers listening in too, as you include some interesting information. They’re at that age when they have the attention span of a flea for anything to do with the Church! I have a lot of praying to do…!
Thank you Fr. Z.
Awesome Lentcazt, Fr. Z.! I needed it badly. At the O.F. parish where I received ashes this morning, I did not get to hear the words that you mentioned in your podcazt, “…to dust you shall return.” Instead, I was told, “Repent and believe the Good News” when Fr. made the Sign of the Cross in ashes on our foreheads this morning. Ugh.
Your podcazt saved the day for me.
Well, this will absolutely give you chills of the best kind…In St. Peter’s, after Ash Wednesday services. I wish I could have been there.

Thank you, Father!
Stumbler but trying,
Thanks!!!
