Today is Friday after Ash Wednesday. Lent is underway but we are still within its narthex.
GO TO CONFESSION!
Today we hear about packing for short trips, illegal burials, and renewing filial abandonment.

Augustine of Hippo:
We prepare ourselves spectacularly for a short trip, but how are we organizing our timeless final voyage?
Please pray for me – and for Pope Benedict – as we begin our discipline.

One day our Lord presented two scenes to St Margaret Mary Alacoque:
The first was that of a peaceful religious life with plenty of interior and exterior consolations, perfect health, the admiration of creatures and all other things pleasing.
The second depicted a life that was poor and abject: forever crucified by all sorts of humiliations, contempt and contradictions, suffering both in body and in spirit.
“Choose my daughter, which one pleases you the most. To whichever one you choose, I will give the same graces.”
St Margaret Mary answered:
“Lord, you are sufficient for me! Do as you will with me so that you may be all the more glorified, without any consideration for my interests and satisfaction. Please yourself and that will suffice for me”.
He chose for her the second scene and told her that she had chosen the best part:
“Here is what I have chosen for you and that pleases me the most, as much as for the accomplishment of my purposes as to conform you all the more to myself. The first scene is a life of pleasure and not merit: this is for eternity”.
Fr. Z,
I was listening to your podcast…do you use the Traditional calendar or Novus Ordo Calendar (this is how it is set up on the App “iPieta”, so please forgive me if I got the terms incorrect)?
Thx
Ono
Thank you for this, Father Z.
Thank you Fr. Z.
Lent is coming!
In addition to penance, fasting, and confession, the viewing of spiritual films can be a powerful activity during lent.
Pius Media, an on-line Catholic film rental company has an abundant number of films that would be appropriate for lenten viewing.
Beyond lenten interest, if your family, like mine, is interested in family-friendly videos, including children’s videos, classic movies, and movies with a Catholic theme, I highly recommend that you check out Pius Media, which operates just like Netflix, with video rental by mail.
Disclaimer: I have NO personal connection to Pius Media, but I do like to pass on good resources when I encounter them.
