LENTCAzT 10: Friday 1st Week of Lent – “we must straighten up”

Today is Friday of the 1st Week of Lent.

As usual we hear about the Roman Station for today, which happens to be the station for all four Ember Fridays of the year.  And there is a very cool bit of trivia about the number 38.

Today we hear from a work of Joseph Ratzinger, a book of Lenten reflections written years before his election.  I have an autographed copy, as a matter of fact.

Today more and more individuals are of the opinion that religion is a waste of time, that only social action can make a significant contribution to man’s well-being. As a result, it will require a kind of miracle to make us let ourselves be lifted up to what is higher
