LENTCAzT 11: Ember Saturday 1st Week of Lent – “living only for myself or giving myself for what is greater”

Today is Saturday of the 1st Week of Lent.

As usual we hear about the Roman Station for today, which is St. Peter’s in the Vatican.  Cool stuff about Ember Saturday.

Today we hear from a sermon of Benedict XVI.

The expression “following of Christ” [sequela Christi] is a description of the whole of Christian existence. In what does it consist? What does “to follow Christ” actually mean?

  1. StWinefride says:

I have a Novena to St Clare entitled “The Footprints of Christ”. On one of the days there is this excerpt from her writings:

Among all those gifts which we daily receive from the Father of mercies,
it is the gift of our call to serve Him for which we should be most grateful,
for it is the greatest and most complete of all His gifts.
As St Paul says: Consider your call.
The Son of God has become our way, which our Blessed Father Francis,
who loved and followed Him, has shown and taught us by his words and his life.
    (C. Test 5)

St Clare of Assisi, pray for us.

Well, I guess your podcasts are now part of my daily meditations, as these have been spot on regarding my life. Excellent and thanks for the quotations from our Dear Holy Father Benedict. Prayers for you.

  3. Any problems still with iTunes?

Friday’s and Saturday’s (today) downloaded to iTunes. Curiously, Thursday’s is still missing but I listened via this blog.

  5. It won’t play all the way through on Google Chrome. It always stops at about 1:40. However, it plays on Firefox. Wednesday’s was missing (at least it was last night).
