LENTCAzT 14: Tuesday 2nd Week of Lent – tiny drops can sink your boat unless you empty it

Today is Tuesday of the 2nd Week of Lent.

Today we hear about the Station, listen to Pope Benedict’s reflection on the Transfiguration, and hear St. Augustine’s sound warning to take care of our little boats.

A taste of Augustine from the Tractates on the Gospel of John:

The drops that fill rivers are tiny; grains of sand are tiny, but if there are many, their weight becomes crushing. A tiny leak in the hold of the boat, if neglected, allows water to enter little by little, producing the same effect as a single flooding wave: continuing to enter little by little, without ever being emptied, it sinks the boat. And what does this emptying mean, …?

Please help?

Thank you Fr. Z. St. Augustine’s words give us a lot to think about. Your Lentcazts have helped me very much this Lent. Thanks again!

Listening to this was a much-appreciated peaceful moment in the midst of what is shaping up to be a very hectic week. Thanks, Father.

  4. Stumbler but trying says:

I am trying to prepare as our beloved Pope Benedict prepares to vacate his office but I am stuck. I know it is coming since already the news stations are reporting that they will start coverage from Rome @ 04:30 hours, Wednesday morning. Tuesday’s LENTCAzT helps.
