I get many requests by email asking for prayers. Many requests are heart-achingly grave and urgent.

Registered or not, will you in your charity please take a moment look at the requests and to pray for the people about whom you read?

Finally, I have three serious personal petitions.  I sense movement on one of them, but I am still working earnestly on the other two.

  1. Jack Hughes says:

2)For a Priest who is very special to me and is having serious heart problems
    3) for an special intention that is slowly moving forward but is by no means certain

  2. tominrichmond says:

Please pray for an eldest child to (re)embrace the fullness of the Faith.

  3. majuscule says:

For my dear neighbor and member of my parish who is trying to help her daughter through a messy divorce. She is helping with the children, driving hours to be “there” for her daughter and the grandsons. The daughter is distraught and my friend is afraid she is turning to drink. I pray for the grace for my friend and her family to get through this.

  4. pmullane says:

Today is a dark day for our country. Our elected representatives have voted to pass through the first stage the legislation to redefine marriage. The main party in government could not get a majority of its MP’s to vote for the bill, and had to rely on the votes if the opposition. The devils in hell are rejoicing at the fruit of their work, but God will prevail. Please pray that we will be made worthy to suffer for The Lord. Thanks.

  5. Wayward Lamb says:

For my mother’s neighbor, whose mother died suddenly at the end of last week. Her father died only four months ago and she’s an only child.

For my wife’s uncle, Don who is nearing end stage for pancreatic cancer, which he has fought valiantly over the past three years. And for Don’s wife, Linda and his children Robyn, Becky, Leah and Tom and their families, during this trial for them. May you watch over them, O Lord and bring Don safely into eternal life.

Please pray for the preservation of traditional marriage, a greater respect for human life, and for the protection of our religious freedom in this country.

  21. Massachusetts Catholic says:

For all unfaithful priests, that they come to their senses, realize the seriousness of their situation, and turn back to the Lord. For those bishops who have dissidents among their priests who oppose their every move to restore right order in their diocese. For those bishops who see persecution coming, that they may not run away and leave the sheep unguarded.

  22. VARoman says:

For healing in my marriage and that I may have the courage to trust God’s plan for me.

For the faithful fighting to raise children under the pressure of modern society.

  23. Angie Mcs says:

For my youngest daughter, that she may find her way back to our Lord and realize the peace and love that is available to her. She has shut herself off from everyone who loves her and no one can reach her. May her heart open itself to God, so she knows she is not alone and is loved.

  24. RMT says:

For healing from the current infirmity I am suffering from, and for my relationship with a wonderful Catholic girl who lives overseas.

  25. Sword40 says:

For my sister Carolyn who just had a hip replacement this morning and for her conversion to the one Holy Faith.

  26. avalon-rose says:

I would appreciate prayers for the conversion of my paternal grandmother, V.L.H.
I would include her first name, but as it is distinctive, I fear it would actually identify her and myself to others. God knows who she is.

She is 82, but her health is not really very good. She was baptized as a baby and allowed her 3 children (including my dad) to be raised Catholic, but to be perfectly honest I have no idea what her own beliefs are. I suppose she believes in God, but other than that, I really don’t know. Since she is my last living grandparent, I pray she will live to meet at least my first child (I’m 22 and no boyfriend in sight, but I hope I am married and have a baby before I am 30, lol), it matters more to me that she is received into the Church before she dies (hopefully not for many years yet), receives Last Rites, and develops at least the beginning of a personal relationship with Christ; that she grows greatly in love for Him.

I would also appreciate prayers for the conversion of E.H. and B.H. (husband and wife), my father’s uncle and aunt, who have strayed from the Catholic Church and became Baptist many years ago. They are getting up there in age and I would love to see them reconciled to the Church before they die (which hopefully is a long ways off).

There are so many others in my family (and friends) for whose conversion I pray (sigh), but I will leave it at that for now.

Particularly urgent right this minute would be prayers for the leaders of the Boy Scouts of America, who are meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss whether or not to change their policy that bans open homosexuals from holding leadership positions (leadership over young boys). Please pray that they stand strong and resist the bullying.

While this might not seem important to others, I think it would be a good thing if we prayed that those in charge of making decisions about the details of King Richard III’s burial decide to do the right thing and give Richard a solemn Requiem Mass according to the Sarum Use, or perhaps the Use of York, since the man was Catholic and not Anglican, which didn’t even exist at the time he died. I also believe he is best buried in York, where he had expressed his desire to be buried, and not in Leicester where he was killed and disrespected. Prayers for his soul are also good. :)

May God bless all the intentions shared here, including Father Z’s, and may Our Lady intercede on behalf of everyone’s intentions. Amen.

  27. VexillaRegis says:

For my brother, that he returns to the Church.

For all pregnant women and expectant fathers on here, that everything goes well.

For me, on two serious personal matters.

BTW, my thyroid is now working properly with medication, thanks so much for your prayers!

For Fr. M and all priests.

  28. Merelin says:

Please pray for me. I will soon be entering treatment for severe major depression and destructive tendencies. This is a very good, but also incredibly scary step in my recovery. Please pray for a speedy recovery, and that I can return to being a whole, functioning, happy person.
Praying for all the intentions here too!

  29. Supertradmum says:

For my three atheist brothers, that they may return to the one true Faith and be peaceful.

  30. george says:

For my wife and I, that we would be granted the strength and discernment for continuing to homeschool.

For a restoration of the liturgy worldwide.

For regularization of the SSPX with Rome.

  31. LaxMom25 says:

I have read each post above; in a moment I will include everyone’s requests in my rosary.

Please pray for my teenage son, who is driving to school independently for the first time today. I ask for Saint Raphael’s intercession.

Please pray for the Boy Scouts of America, that in this week’s vote, they remain true and good in their policies.

  32. Matt8006 says:

For Father Z’s three urgent prayer requests.
For my friend suffering from alcoholism.
For my brother and his wife, and their baby who recently died in the womb.
For my pregnant wife and our baby.
    For my stable employment.

Thank you for your prayers. Please know that I have read each of your requests and have prayed for you all. Pax Christi.

  33. Christine says:

For my sisters to come back home to the Church. And a special intention.

  34. PA mom says:

For my husband, who seems to show a new openness to the Catholic faith. That God may also soften his heart towards the idea of future children.
For my children to grow in obedience, respectfulness, kindness and self control. That we as parents can lead them better towards these virtues.

    Prayers for all above.

  35. Mom2301 says:

First, thank you to all who have prayed for my Dad in the past. His brain tumor showed “no significant growth”! Second, I shall remember everyone’s intentions in prayer today. Finally, please pray for a speedy recovery and adjustment for a friend who served as a law enforcement officer for 30+ years and has recently undergone surgery to amputate his lower leg.

  36. e.e. says:

Please join us in praying that God would remove the obstacles to our adoption of a sibling group.

Please also pray for Fr. “T”, who seems to be struggling with his faith lately.

  37. doozer125 says:

For someone “wrestling with a demon” please pray with me that he’ll overcome these great odds.

  38. aurora says:

For the conversion of my daughter, son-in-law, adult grandson and my sister: all atheist.
For physical healing of daughter’s auto-immune disease, endocrine & reproductive systems and of suspected pernicious anemia. Thank you.

  39. poohbear says:

For the new Bishop that will be assigned to our Diocese, that the Holy Father will send a holy man who will have the strength and courage to clean up the mess left by the last three bishops.

All of the intentions posted on here are included in my daily prayers.

  40. Torpedo1 says:

Praying for all intentions here. At Merelin, you have my sympathies. I’m close to someone who suffers from bipolar disorter and I know how helpless and sad it can be. What you are doing is very scarry yes, but it’ll get better. God is with you in your suffering, believe me he is and it will get better.
Please pray for my father, that he will allow the Holy Spirit to soften his heart towards God, the Church and my mother and their marriage. Also, please pray for my sister and her husband. They have a very young marriage and are encountering several obsticals. Pray that they gain grace and strength. And lastly, please pray for me and my intended, that our own preparations for marriage go smoothly.

  41. I will include all the above in my rosary intention. If I may ask prayers:
    for someone whose heart’s deepest desire has been to become a nun for over 20 years;
    for someone so she can stop hating her father;
    for someone struggling with compulsive overeating/binge eating;
Thank you to anyone who offers even the tiniest prayer for these intentions.

  42. The Sicilian Woman says:

I will add all intentions here to my Rosary.

    For the family and friends of those here who have left the Church, that they return, and for our spiritual guidance to help accomplish that end;

    For those priests and religious who preach and live God’s word, that they may be constantly refreshed and strengthened in their vocations, especially against the increased aggression and hatred from elected officials, fellow Christians and the media, throughout the world;

    For healing for those struggling with addictions and other mental illness;

    For healing for those struggling with infertility, including miscarriages and stillborn children;

and lastly, for my success in dealing with my sister regarding my father’s estate without a continued, expensive legal battle.

    Many thanks.

  43. nykash says:

For my wife and her continued health problems.
For the repose of the soul of our friend Walter, who passed away yesterday.
    For direction in my career
For our parish priest and those that are trying to cling to tradition.

  44. Therese says:

I always find these posts sobering. (There is never a shortage of good works to do in prayer.) I ask prayers for a dear friend trying to cope with several deaths in quick succession among her family and friends–she is trying also to convert to the Catholic Church. It’s not easy.

I also ask your prayers for i><Laudamus Te magazine. We are in need of additional subscribers to make ends meet. May God bless you all.

  45. Angie Mcs says:

Please Lord, help MERELIN as he begins his journey healing from depression. May his recovery be steady and may he gain the strength to continue on this difficult path. Just starting treatment is a wonderful step! May he find hope and light waiting ahead for him. Please hold him in your heart and help him see that he is loved.

THERESE, these posts are indeed sobering. I am so often moved to tears. And when you have shared others’ pain, it really can hit you hard. In the end, I always turn things over to God and find that so comforting.

I am praying for all intentions here- for Father Z and so many other good people.

  46. aragonjohn7 says:

Priests and For all those seeking God

    God bless

  47. discipulus says:

For the grandmother of our military friends who passed away today. May she rest in peace.

  48. VexillaRegis says:

For Fr. M, that he deals wisely with a difficult situation in our parish.

For The Sicilian Woman, that her domestic problems are solved and her health is restored.

For all pregnant women on here, that everything goes well.

    For all sick people.

    For all priests.

For me on two personal matters.

Your prayer are very much appreciated, and I pray for you too!

  49. VexillaRegis says:

Please pray for our beloved Pope, for the cardinals to find the best successor we could possibly think of and for our Catholic Church!

Would you join me in praying at least one Rosary a day for this intention?

Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, Sancta Dei Genitrix:
nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus:
sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper,
    Virgo gloriosa et benedicta.

  50. lmo1968 says:

Please pray for my depression and other health issues. That, I may actually be healed of these things or if not healed that I may receive help in living with them.

  51. eiggam says:

Just received a phone call regarding a man who was airlifted 100 miles to our local hospital with a heart attack. Please keep B. and his family in your prayers. Father Z, thank you providing us this place to post intentions and to pray for one another.

Special prayers go out to those who are dealing with mental health issues, such as myself. We ask for God’s grace in using these crosses to bring his word and healing to others.

  52. Angie Mcs says:

It seems that nobody can help me with this intense and constant nerve pain, from which I have been suffering for over 5 years, and which has often left me in deep depression. Please pray for my ability to accept it, find joy in life and not give in to despair. May I learn to share my pain with His own and receive comfort from His love.

  53. EVERYONE: I received this by email. In your charity please pray for a participant here (as you are):

I am both shocked and saddened to learn of the death of ‘Ros’, a Catholic blogger who was known as ‘Shadowlands’. Ros used to comment here and was, I believe, a member of The Guild of Blessed Titus Brandsma. She had a blog by the same name and continued blogging at a different blog.

For more details on her life and the sad news of her death, go to The Guild of Blessed Titus Brandsma.

May she who died firmly believing in Our Lord Jesus Christ, be brought to His Heavenly Kingdom and may her soul and the souls of all the Faithful departed, rest in peace.

Remember her and those who were close to her in your prayers.

  54. Doctors have informed the family to expect the death of my [non-Catholic] brother-in-law “J.” tomorrow. This is very sudden and unexpected by his family. Please pray that God’s Will be done, for mercy for J. and his family, and to sustain and comfort his very shocked and frightened wife.

    Please pray for me.

I also keep the intentions in my prayers of all here in these running requests.

  55. And while I’m here, please pray that my child, “J.” return to the Faith and accomplish his vocation.

  56. mjoe says:

    Please pray for:

    1) my grandmother who has terminal cancer.
    2) a friend of mine whose wife have an infant child but don’t believe in infant baptism.
And 3) my sister who lives in sin with her boyfriend.

    Greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  57. Don’t forget to pray for Pope Benedict!

  58. Darren says:

Please pray for Bishop David O’Connell C.M., Bishop of Trenton, NJ.

He suffers with diabetes and has already had a couple of toes amputated in the past year or so. Father told us on Sunday that he has had some surgeries on his foot recently, and they are preparing him for a prosthesis… meaning, he is likely to lose his foot. He held a Eucharistic Congress in the Fall and did too much walking and developed a blister on his foot, became infected…

  59. acardnal says:

Darren, thanks for sharing that. I was unaware of his condition and will pray for him. If I recall accurately, he celebrated a Solemn Pontifical Mass in the Extraordinary Form after his episcopal ordination and I am especially grateful for that.

  60. Darren says:

acardnal… he also has had skin cancer which resulted in reconstructive surgery on his nose last year (he still has a bandage on his nose). Since he became our bishop (upon the retirement of Bishop Smith) in December 2010 he has had numerous health issues. It is like the devil is attacking him physically through disease.

He celebrated the Pontifical High Mass this past November 2012 on the Feast of the Miraculous Medal. I was there. See here: http://www.latinmasstrenton.org/lmt/_top

  61. jesusthroughmary says:

I was privileged to be in the schola at the Pontifical Solemn Mass in Trenton. I will certainly pray for His Excellency.

Please pray for the happy repose of the soul of Deacon Bill Steltemeier, founding president and later chairman of EWTN, who died today at the age of 83. He was a driving force behind making Mother Angelica’s dream a reality, and he was a truly great Catholic gentleman.

  62. Mississippi R.C. says:

    My Prayer request Fr. Z.,
You once commented that we should think about indulgences all the time. In that spirit I want to share The Prayer of Jesus Christ Crucified which grants a Plenary Indulgence on each Friday of Lent and Passiontide to the faithful, who after Communion piously recite the following prayer before an image of Christ crucified; on other days of the year the indulgence is partial:
Behold O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Your sight and with the most fervent desire of my soul I pray and beseech You that You would impress upon my heart lively sentiment of Faith, Hope and Charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm desire of amendment, while with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate Your five most precious wounds; having before my eyes that which David spoke in prophecy of You, O good Jesus: They have pierced my hands and feet; they have numbered all my bones.

  63. jameeka says:

I am praying for all the intentions above, and..
for the readers of this blog, especially those who think they have left the Catholic Church.

  64. Allan S. says:

Urgent – my son in grave distress and danger! Pray for him and his Guardian Angel ASAP! Ad for we his parents in a nightmare!

  65. An American Mother says:

    Memorare aloft, Allan.

  66. StWinefride says:

Allan S.: we’re praying for your son, his guardian angel and you, his parents.
O Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to thee.

  67. cornelius74 says:

Let us pray for the enemies of Christ and His Church, they seem to grow in number, at least in my country.
Let us pray for the Pope, may he complete as much as possible from the tasks that lay ahead of him.
Let us pray for the Holy Spirit to guide the conclave electing Benedict`s successor.
Let us pray for Father Z and all the Lord`s priests.

And may I ask for your prayers for the conversion of my beloved wife and our three children. I am certain the Lord has some intention with me that he called me to His flock while I am married to this great woman and we have our beautiful and bright kids, but none of the four has joined me on my journey to God so far.

Thank you all and rest assured of my prayer for your requests stated here.

  68. Allan S. says:

Ty all for urgent prayers . Son has been located and has returned home worse for ware but basically ok. We have a hill to clime as a family, for which privacy will be needed. Thanks.
