Today is Wednesday of the 3rd Week of Lent. [I fixed the intro. I was really tired when I made this. If listened to it before I adjusted it, the older version might still be in your cache.]
We hear about the ancient Roman Station church, the Collects in both forms of the Roman Rite (they quite a different spirit to them), and then have something from Benedict XVI and St. Gregory Nazianzus.
From Gregory:
Whoever sails is never far from shipwrecking, and the more audaciously he sails, the closer it becomes. Whoever bears this body is never far from physical suffering, and the more he plows forward without consideration of those lying before him, the closer it becomes. So long as you are sailing with favorable winds, give a hand to those who are shipwrecked; so long as you are healthy and wealthy, help those who are suffering!

I am sorry, but even though I have an excellent Internet connection this morning, I cannot get past 2:15 without the podcast stopping.
Love these, so will try later in the day.
“Whoever sails is never far from shipwrecking”. How very true. I just listened to these beautiful readings in a hotel room in faraway Japan. Father Z, your apostolate reaches far and wide.
Ah, got it finally. Love the reference to “holy restraint”. Prayers for you, Father.
FYI: The podcast as well as the audio linked on this blog entry both declare “it is Friday in the Third week of Lent.” I haven’t checked the collects to see if this is indeed Friday’s LentCazt, or whether the intro was a verbal typo.
LentCazts are loading properly on iTunes.
Thanks! That’s good news. I have fought with that for a long time.
