LENTCAzT 34 Monday 5th Week of Lent – An efficacious aid that is free for the poor.

Today is Monday in the 5th Week of Lent.

We hear today about the ancient Roman Station, in Trastevere, something by St. Cyril of Jerusalem, and a thought from Benedict XVI.

From Cyril:

On any occasion, let us trace the Sign of the Cross with our fingers: when we eat bread or drink, when we enter or exit, before going to sleep, when we are lying down or when we rise, whether we are moving or sitting still. It is an efficacious aid that is free for the poor and effortless for the weak. In fact, it is a grace from God: the mark of believers and the terror of demons.

Pray for Pope Francis.

This is my first post so please be patient with me. i attended Mass on last Saturday morning. The priest gave a short sermon which centred around truth and the church. He stated that the church does not have all the answer but that we should look to other religions and learn from them. I was quite shocked at this since I was taught that the Catholic church had the fullness of truth. If the catholic church was founded by Jesus Christ himself then it should have all the answers. Any truths that are present in other religions must be already present in the catholic church as she possess the fullness of truth. Am I going crazy??? I discussed this after Mass with him…. this in turn led onto discussion about tradition and inevitably his dislike of anything Latin and even the New Novus Ordo translation. He said the previous Mass was more accessible for people.
There are just some priests out there preaching things which aren’t true. Maybe I am missing the point!!!

Thank you, Father! Floods of tears….

Fizzwizz, how ghastly. And you’re so NOT missing the point!

    Fizzwizz,

By any chance did the priest happen to give examples of what we could learn from other religions?

  4. And this is related to the content of the podcast?
