RECENT POSTS and THANKS

I have posted a lot recently and some entries have slithered out of view.  Here are some links to recent posts.

First, please check daily YOUR URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS

And now…

A housekeeping note: If you register to be able to comment here, be mindful of that “about yourself” field in the registration form.  I use that to determine whether or not you are a vile spammer or a real, sincere person.  I don’t automatically approve registrations that don’t immediately put me at ease.

Also, I am taking some ads.  I am not cheap but I do get around 750k page views a month.

Now it is my pleasure to express thanks to some of you.

First, I am glad that more than one of you nagged me into getting my Ham Radio license (Technician).  I am now also practicing Morse Code and looking at the materials for the General exam.

Also, thanks for the voice mails through skype (see side bar). I do listen to them.  However, to the nice lady who keeps calling me to put in orders of Mystic Monk Coffee… No, ma’am.  I’m not the guy to order from. Use the link to Mystic Monk Coffee on the side bar.

I am grateful to those of you who have sent items from my amazon wish lists (both the regular one and the Kindle wishlist).  Alas, amazon doesn’t always include a packing slip with the name of the person who sends stuff from the regular list.  But God knows who you are and I include you, whoever you are, in my prayers.  Those of you who send Kindle books: I can see your names but there is no email address for you in the email alert I get from amazon.  Sometimes I can look you up if you have posted comments.  But I include you on my list of benefactors for the month when I say Mass.

Ditto to those of you who have sent amazon gift cards!

I am also grateful to those of you who are sending donations, either by using the donation button on the side bar or who have subscribed to donate each month (there is a gizmo for that at the foot on the blog’s page).  It is interesting to see that, over the last couple of years, most of the donations that come in now are through that monthly option.

With the rather large traffic we get here, I often muse about what might result were even 2% of you to sign on for a small monthly donation.  Now that you know that I muse about that, perhaps you also will muse about that.

Shifting gears for a moment, thanks for the support you give to the Wyoming Carmelites by buying coffee and tea, to the Dominican sisters who make soap, and to the Benedictine and Dominican sisters who produced those fine music discs.  You really helped their sales, which means you really helped their communities get on.

Speaking of my Masses for benefactors, including donors and stuff-senders, I will say Mass for the intention of benefactors (always including KA, DY and GS) on Saturday 18 August in the morning.  It is my pleasure and my duty to pray for those who send me material help. Most of my income derives from what this blog generates.  Of the wishlist stuff, however, in the last few months I have received

Ballistol, cleaning patches and targets, a volume of poems up to 1962 by T.S. Eliot, Discourses by Bonomelli,  The Sacred Rights of Conscience: Selected Readings on Religious Liberty and Church-State Relations in the American Founding by Dreisbach, Liberating Black Theology: The Bible and the Black Experience in America by Bradley,  A Meaningful World: How the Arts and Sciences Reveal the Genius of Nature by Wicker (I like how this guy explains things), Abuse of Language Abuse of Power by Pieper, The Truth About Lying: How to Spot a Lie and Protect Yourself from Deception by Walters and there there is the DESK! My desk area was a complete train wreck. I put a new desk on the wish list and BAM it came! It came without an instruction manual for putting it together as well. I eventually found one online and put it together one after noon. It is a little easier to work now and it is not such an eyesore in my room. I was using folding plastic tables from Sam’s Club. Also of great note and utility, some kind soul, I don’t know who, sent my the 3 volumes of Weller’s translation (with the Latin side-by-side) of the Roman Ritual. Believe it or not, I did have it. I also got some heat shrink wire wrap sleeves and a mini heat gun. I will eventually put together my own connections for a “go bag” for a portable ham radio rig, with power source etc. I’ll probably use Anderson power poles.  Be prepared, friends.

Another thing: I am also grateful for email notes in which you say that something from this blog helped you or someone else.  Those notes mean a lot to me!

So…. thanks for the good DX KC9ZJN 73
