Twitter blocks support of Phil. Cracker Barrel removes Duck stuff. Ooops! (Mistake!)

Censorship is bad, right? It’s bad unless it is used on people who uphold heterosexuality.

Here’s a story about what Twitter did.

‘Duck Dynasty’: Twitter Blocks ‘iStandWithPhil.com‘ Content

UPDATED: Twitter has restored access to the link, stating that the website had mistakenly been flagged as spam.

In the latest development in the ongoing culture war surrounding Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s controversial remarks on homosexuality, the pro-Robertson website iStandwithPhil.com was flagged on Twitter, prohibiting users from posting messages containing links to the page. Twitter removed the block late on Dec. 23, and a Twitter spokesperson explained that an outside organization that tracks spam sources had mistakenly flagged the URL as spam.

“We have restored access and apologize for the error,” the spokesperson said.

It was a “mistake”. Yah, right.

In other news, did you hear about Cracker Barrel restaurants?   Their clientele is not exactly the tony NYC liberal type.  They took all the Duck stuff off their shelves.  Big mistake.

It’s interesting to see the ‘Cracker Barrel’ message mentioning the word ‘offended’ so often. As if the worst sin there is would be to give someone offense.

And since it wholly depends on the other person if there is any offense taken, this line of thought can be used to put any speech beyond the pale, you simply have to drum up some people who claim to be offended. No hard task, especially these days.

It’s clear that Cracker barrel still hasn’t understood the issue on a deeper level: the only freedom of speech worth having is the freedom to make a speech that is offensive, and if you want to go through life without giving offense to anyone, you’ll be a hostage to everyone else. And still fail miserably at the goal of not giving offense, of course.

“A small band of thought police… don’t buy enough biscuits and gravy to keep a giant restaurant chain in business…” LOL!!!
We choose Cracker Barrel restaurants on purpose when we drive (El Paso, TX and Oklahoma City frequently), so this is hilarious and a happy ending.

  3. Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s controversial remarks on homosexuality“?

The foregoing prompts at least one sincere question, to wit, since when, and in what world, can Mr. Robertson’s remarks be considered controversial? If the response to that question is this world, I am forced to inquire when, and by whom, I was secretly, and without my knowledge, permission or awareness, transported to the world in which I am posing the question.

Has it occurred to anyone that this whole phony controversy came out of the world of reality TV and that it was probably a joint project of both Mr. Robertson and A&E and that everybody is allowing their blood pressure to be sent through the ceiling because of a publicity stunt that will make both Phil Robertson and A&E a boatload of cash? The American people long ago decided to be led by their emotions which is what makes them get dumber every day.

Has it occurred to anyone that we ought to praise God that people still believe and rejoice in the truth and are willing to stand up for it? Honestly, sometimes I think pride – he said it wrong, I’ve said it better, or he’s hurting our cause, or he’s not Catholic, or it’s a stunt for money? What’s wrong with us? I’ll be honest, a simple person takes an honest stand against the fickle fashion of faith and fun and freedom – in the media of all places- and pretty soon everyone seeks to kill him and the conversation. Even say Merry Christmas and among Christians everyone seeks one-upmanship even to the point of being so Christian that they refuse to celebrate the Holiday along with the Catholic Church. Merry Christmas!
