    There ought to be a process, for when a parish is closed, of salvaging the materials for use the next time a church is built or remodeled in the surrounding area (or elsewhere) – take out the stained glass, the bells, the marble, the pews, the altar, the altar rail – anything that can be taken out should be. Since it usually gets taken out anyways with considerably less care.

    We’ve seen this a lot in Detroit – churches are closed and left to waste, while other churches within the same diocese could benefit greatly from incorporating some of the materials.
