Mystic Monk Coffee… it’s for the children…

… actually, it’s for the Carmelites in Wyoming, and both you, dear reader, and me.

As I quaff a wonderfully refreshing Iced Coffee, made with Mystic Monk Coffee, I am enjoying a cute photo one of you readers sent along:

This proud father has depicted his spring-off beside a 5 lbs bag of Breakfast Blend!

Think iced coffee.  Iiiiiiiced. Coffffffeeeeee…..

Mystic Monk Coffee… it’s time to refresh your supply!

Coffee, even Mystic Monk, will stunt their growth…

OK, it’s for the moms and dads. I get it. I heartily concur.

What a precious baby!! Thank you for posting this.

  3. Elizabeth D says:

Really cute baby. Based on the swaddle, looks like he may be inclined to a Carthusian or Camaldolese vocation.

Super cute baby! Either that bag of coffee is huge or the baby is really tiny. I like it either way :)

Darling baby!! Reminds me of one of ours from a few years ago.

It’s hard for me to look at those huge bags of coffee and not think of little babies!

p.s. I don’t know why my photo says 2012 even though it was 2011 except for that I’m seriously challenged in the technology department!

Hey! That’s my baby! :-D Actually, ElizabethD, if his Mama is OCDS and drinks Carmelite coffee, doesn’t that make him a baby Carmelite despite the swaddle? :-)

As a devoted lurker on Fr Z’s blog, it was a neat surprise to pull it up this afternoon and see our little guy.

Flos Carmeli, you are thinking like an O.Carm; do you remember that that at the Monastery of the Incarnation they had a problem with nepotism, the prioress was always a woman of the same wealthy family that founded it (ie until St Teresa was sent back to reform them)? What’s next, you will lock my beloved St John of the Cross in a windowless bathroom till he almost dies? No, your baby will be a Carthusian, I am certain. Besides, if one accepted the premise that he is already a Carmelite now then when he leaves the family home (ie leaves Carmel) he can only transfer to another order that is more strict, and traditionally that’s the Carthusians. I had a OCD friar spiritual director who made a discernment retreat with them prior to making his final vows, it was not for him and he remained a Carmelite. Let him do a rumspringa first (who knows maybe he will become, eek, Charismatic). But formed in contemplative spirituality from the cradle I’m sure your son will be happy with the hairshirt, in the silence of solitude.

(I’m sure I do not need to add I am kidding… after several years I was rejected by OCDS, some people were offended by me somehow they would not specify to me… this part is true!)

  9. Flos Carmeli says:

LOL I stand corrected, ElizabethD. Carthusian would be wonderful, anything but Charismatic! ;-) For a contemplative, he sure is busy… hence the coffee. :-D In all seriousness, though, I pray daily that wherever God calls him (and his siblings), he will go.

(Sorry to hear about your sad experience with the OCDS… Though I’m sure you’re living the charism of the Order better than I. :-) )
