John Sonnen, who is from my native place, lived in Rome for a long time and was a tour guide there. He is also staunchly traditional. He now has a tour company that will be doing a pilgrimage to Rome in October (the best time of year in Rome, btw) to coincide with the annual Summorum Pontificum event, a Pontifical Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica. He sent me some details. I’ll just include them as bullet points:

I stayed at the Hotel Ponte Sisto for an unrelated event. It’s lovely, and it’s convenient. Being able o stay there is a real plus!

This looks like a wonderful pilgrimage, very carefully thought out. We’re my circumstances different, I would be there like a shot. They are not, sadly, but I will pray that the Holy Spirit sends the right people to enjoy and benefit from this opportunity, and for safe journeys and good health for those taking part.
What a magnificent opportunity to visit eternal Rome. With Father Z as a guide!
My wife and I were in Rome two years ago on other business that overlapped with the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage. We attended the St. Peter’s mass on Saturday ( open to all comers, no reservations needed). The next day we went to the ICR mass in via del Corso, city center, at a solemn mass at the chiesa de Gesù e María. I do recommend this trip. The visit to the Scavi of Peter’s tomb make you proud to be part of our Catholic Church.
I note that Fr. Zulendorf [Who?] gives you some free time to visit Rome. There are hundreds of magnificent churches, but one that should absolutely be visited is Santa Maria sopra Minerva, it is simply fabulous.
Try to attend this pilgrimage. This year we will also be on business there can only get off for the Saturday solemn mass at the altar of Peter’s Chair but it will make our trip. Perhaps my wife will make the Friday mass at the FSSP Santa Trinitá dei Pellegrini personal parish as well. I hope to kiss Father Z’s hand ( or ring should he succeed in making it to bishop in these next few months as would be so deserved) at St. Peter’s Basilica. Two years ago, I walked straight to a priest in cassock thinking it might be Father Z, but something made me stop and it was no him, just a run-of-the-mill faithful priest. Now I think I will be able recognize our host. Happy travels Dear Father and report often.

On Friday October 25 evening Cardinal Pell will offer the evening mass at Trinitá dei Pellegrini for Juventutem. On Saturday 26 at noon Cardinal Burke will offer the mass at the altar of the Chair (which contains the actual chair of Peter covered in bronze by sculptor Bernini) at St. Peters’s Basilica. Will be a very good pilgrimage for English-speaking neo-Pelagians.
Tickets to the Scavi (excavations), a marvelous excursion into the underground roman cemetery where Peter was buried (exactly under the center of the famous dome) are quite difficult to obtain so this is a great opportunity.
