This morning we had Mass at Ss. Trinità dei Pellegrini, the FSSP parish. They are always welcoming and helpful when priests want to say Mass.
I like the way the amices are done here. The ribbons can be removed easily, for laundering purposes. I shall have to have some of these made.

I am off to find the trim for the Pontifical vestments this morning. I’d like to get this project taken care of today, if possible.

Father, there is a wonderful little shop for trims, braids, and other such things in Via di Torre Argentina. You will find the shop on the right hand side of the street when you enter from Corso Vittorio Emmanuele. Beautiful stuff there! Be sure to check it out if you can!

Reni is neglected among the Baroque artists. He shouldn’t be.
I see “Camponeschi” on the wine bottle. I haven’t been to that restaurant, in the piazza Farnese, since 1998. How was it?
Vestments are nice, but I want to know where my parish can get those five-foot candles.
That amice is incredible! Not only would laundering be made easier but you would not have to worry about the deterioration of the stitching that secures the cords. A few sets of the cords and numerous linen amice pieces and you’d be good to go every day. I am going to have to look into having some of these made, along with the possibility of starting a site to sell these specifically.
Is the red cord something that is specific to prelates? I’ve noticed that in Italy especially common priests frequently wear red lining under albs. What would be the most proper color for the cords?
@FrZ have you ever seen anything like this aside from this particular parish?
I can’t wait to see the results of the vestments. I am curious as to how much can be saved by obtaining your own fabrics.

I have traveled to Rome twice, and I always enjoy seeing your photos and hearing about your trips to Rome, Father Z!
My mom and I have been keenly following the Vestment Adventures, and we’re in suspense about what you’ll choose for the trim. My mom, an artist and occasional seamstress, recommends a trim of cerulean, Our Lady of Lourdes blue and gold or white running through it. She absolutely adores the gold silk you picked, and she desperately wants to visit that shop now.
Guido Reni’s painting of St. Michael the Archangel will always be one of my favorites.
