One would presumably have had to already actually “read the document” in order to identify (and isolate) those portions of the document about which one, if asked would state publicly that one had not been read, yes?
Even young students just say plainly, “I did not read the whole thing…it was long…I was tired…hungry…bored…” And the younger students “I could not pronounce some of the words so I skipped them…” and “I did not know what all of the words meant and I was too lazy to get up and look it up…” or “I was actually watching tv at the time and remembered nothing of what I read…”
This, Earnest man, his demeanor and remarks remind me of the way futuristic robotronic was portrayed back in the day. Like if you ask the robot to give something some thought or analysis or engage they say “Whrrr…does not compute…”
Even if they read the whole thing, they wouldn’t understand it. Sin can cover one’s ability to see the truth.
As for the president; remember he is the same president who said, “God bless Planned Parenthood.”

Well, considering the scope of moral decline and the “culture of death” today, abortion isn’t exactly an outstanding element in the prose. Kind of gets lost in the forest.

To read would mean to acknowledge that Nancy Pelosi and many others are not really that Catholic after all, and that the right to human life is a deeply held religious belief, and that the administration has engaged in a bigoted attack and coercion as to one set of religious adherents identified by a belief system for who knows what purpose.
Mr. Earnest should just answered simply and honestly “We like abortion; the more Americans have them, the better as far as we are concerned…”
Liberals love to cherry pick. They see what they want to see, hear what they want to hear and outright ignore the rest.
I can imagine the reaction. “Pro-life language in the encyclical? Really? ….. Why?”
How did the president of the United States, the single man with greatest array of information gathering resources on the planet, get the mistaken impression that the Pope wrote and encyclical on global warming?
He wrote an encyclical on the environment in general. Global warming was but one of numerous topics he discussed. “Warming” and “Climate” together appear in only 14 of the encyclical’s 246 paragraphs.
When he does discuss it, he does not, as Mr. Obama falsely claims, do so “with the full moral authority of his position.” He refers to scientific research for evidence on it, not the teaching authority of the Church, and when he discusses actions, he does so mainly from a political perspective. When he does rely on the teaching authority of the Church, he overwhelmingly does so by recourse to existing teachings.
I guess I should at least take comfort in the president’s ignorance. Based on comments around the internet, I was starting to get the impression fewer faithful Catholics were willing to read the pope’s message than non-Catholics.

That said, it also bears noting that conversion can be sparked by a sincere desire that one’s mind be opened to truth. Such desire has turned many sinners into saints. Let us pray.

In a recent meeting with sick children and their parents, Pope Francis once more thundered against abortion, this time comparing the abortion mentality to the code of the Mafia, who “take out” a person when he gets in their way.
In a private meeting in the chapel of his Santa Marta residence on Friday evening, the Pope praised the parents of the sick children, expressing his admiration for their fortitude and courage. Francis also repeated the testimony of one of the dads present, who said he and his wife had been advised to abort their child once doctors realized he would be born handicapped.
“And you said: ‘No, let him come, he has the right to live.’”
“No problem is solved by taking out a person. Never, ever. That is the code of the Mafia: ‘There’s a problem, let’s take this guy out.’ Never,” Francis said.
The Pope has been hammering home a pro-life message in address after address, calling abortion a “scourge” on society and insisting that “a just society recognizes the primacy of the right to life from conception to natural death.”
“The degree of progress of a civilization is measured by its ability to protect life, especially in its most fragile stages,” he said in an address Saturday.
Despite Francis’s repeated denunciations of gay marriage and abortion, the Italian media have been remarkably silent concerning the Pope’s words on these topics, choosing to report on other messages while gingerly sidestepping those that do not seem to fit their narrative for this Pope.
In his opening address for the general assembly of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI), Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the conference president, accused the media of culpable negligence for failing to report on papal speeches concerning gender, abortion, gay marriage, and other hot button issues.
Sometimes it seems that certain of the Pope’s words that are not politically correct, he said, “are covered over by those who want to get a different message across to the public.”
One commentator noted that whenever the Pope speaks against the Mafia, he makes front page headlines. When he compares abortionists to the Mafia, however, his words are somehow lost.
