Bishop Boyea reports the passing of Msgr. Tony Majchrowski (96), until now the oldest serving pastor in the Diocese of Lansing.
In addition to his long and general service to the Church, Msgr. Majchrowski is particularly important to Juventutem Michigan and Catholics attached to the Church’s Tradition because he was the pastor that welcomed the Traditional Latin Mass to All Saints Flint in 1988, with the permission of Bp. Ken Povich.

(I will remember to pray for Mons Majchrowski again when Friday’s office for the dead comes around. But this did jar my memory; I saw this comment on one of Ann Althouse’s posts the other day, and thought of your interest in ham radio:
“On my bicycle trip to the store at about 3:30pm I heard HV0A (morse code), a ham in the Vatican, which, judging from its being the alphabetically first possible Vatican callsign, must be the pope himself, or possibly the previous pope.”
I expect the commenter is operating from a faulty premise or two, ahem, but the actual operator may be someone you’re familiar with? (The possibility that Francis and Benedict XVI are communicating ‘off the record’, as it were, via radio is straight out of Benson’s Lord of the World.)
