Do you have good news to share with the readership?
Let us know.
For my part, I addressed seminarians of the diocese this morning. They spend a week plus each summer together and with the bishop. In the past, as this summer, you readers have supplied them with books and birettas. Thanks!
The vocation direction was asked me to talk about priesthood and Eucharist. I spoke about the priest as pardoned sinner and as simultaneously priest, who offers sacrifice, and victim who is sacrificed.
Then, for lunch, we had food from Chick-fil-a!
It was a good morning.
I am grateful that all the hardships in the last 2 or 3 weeks have resolved, one more pressing problem, but I am praying that Our Lady intercedes. God is so good to me, I am grateful.
To misquote Ben Franklin: Chick Fil A is proof that God loves us.
There is no air travel on my calendar over the next several weeks, which will improve my disposition and work output. Fr. Z, I thought of you the other day when I first heard the news about Delta’s unraveling, and hope you didn’t get snarled in the mess. [I did not! However, I have a lot of travel coming up.]
Kids started Catholic School today after being home schooled for many years, went well despite my anxiety over it.
We have a new Pastor, well, Administrator. Sunday in his homily he said how important it is to go to confession. It’s the first time I’ve heard that in our church in the 19 years I’ve been here. And he was sitting in the confessional before Mass, no need to tap in on the shoulder. I think we’ve got a winner.
We had an ordination this week in my diocese. The church was packed to the gills. Thanks be to God for a new priest! All the (<10) seminarians were there too, and it was nice to see them.
I got married on Saturday!! The Feast of The Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was Ordinary Form Ad Orientem. St Margaret Mary in Oakland, California. Celebrated by Rev. Fr. Jeffrey R. Keyes C.Pp.S. [He’s great!] Beautiful reverent Mass, with all the propers sung and chanted readings, bells and smells, altar boys and communion at the rail. The reception was beautiful but most of our guests complimented us on the ceremony. They were either non Catholic or non practicing Catholics. It was an awesome day, so grateful for everyone involved, the Priest, altar servers, choir and the parish.
My sister is in much less pain today although still hospitalized. The next step will be determined tomorrow, whether home hospice or a lovely Catholic place.
My wife is 5 weeks pregnant with our second child after many months of trying. My first born starts preschool next week at a Catholic preschool attached to our parish grammar school. He’s very excited, my wife and I are nervous.
The Archbishop of San Salvador has approved my Blessed Oscar Romero Chaplet, which highlights Blessed Romero’s grounding of his social doctrine on devotion to the Eucharist. The Chaplet will be presented at a Mass in San Salvador on Monday, Romero’s would-be 99th birthday.
Polycarpio, Hooray! I will enjoy finding out more about the chaplet.
My tummy is much better and I can eat without worry, my pain is under good control. My job is going great. Everything is just great. I am reading Cardinal Sarah’s book and it is encouraging me to do better.
I am escaping the wasteland that is my archdiocese and traveling to St. Mary Cathedral in Austin to attend a conference by Fr. Gerard Saguto, FSSP. In that time, I will attend my first TLM in a church. I am super excited!
A colleague, tiring of the buffoonery at his megachurch, is seeing Matthew 16 and John 6 in a new light. He also recently viewed part of a FSSP Latin Mass video.
My family and I leave for Clear Creek Abbey today (we’re making it a several day drive). If I pass my Latin test on Sunday, I enter as a Choir Monk on Monday, the Assumption!
My second novel has been accepted by the publisher. Pray I can find a printer to print off the contract.
I have seven I would like the world to see….especially the Catholic world.
And, I am thinking about putting some short stories on my old blog.
My father turns 90 today. Deo gratias.
Other milestones this year:
My wife and I celebrated our Silver Anniversary.
My 3-yr old company (an academic tutoring company) is growing, thanks to God answering our prayers. I commend the devotion to the Infant Jesus of Prague to the readership.
Today my parish has its annual celebration of the feast of St. Philomena.
On Monday, my parish WILL celebrate the Assumption of Our Lady as a Holy Day of Obligation.
I was privileged to receive the sacrament of Confession today, the Assumption! And to have the grace of having a priest who gave me some very sensible, and totally Catholic, advice and encouragement. Deo gratias!
